bjrules Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I'm a bit iffy on the second part. I'm not gonna lie, I like Mike, but call me a fan girl, but I prefer when Billie sings. I think his voice is much more powerful and trained from his years of experience. I would have loved to hear Billie sing the lyrics on the second part, especially these lines:Same here, but I did enjoy having someone other than Billie sing for a change. I definitely prefer it when Billie sings.
Ally Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 not great but i love the transition part "america is falling, vigilantes warning ya, calling chrisitan and gloria!!" love that bit though my fave bit still have to be "i am a nation without bureaucratic ties, deny the allegation as its written, fucking lies", love that bit sooo much
Penguin Puffball Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 This is definitely another one of my favorites. I have no idea why I love it so much...I love the parts that Mike sings in Modern World; not just cuz Mike's singing them but it definitely means something to me. And Mass Hysteria is really meaningful too.
Tanner Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 This is easily one of my favorites off the album if not my favorite. I love the transitions
Smithy14 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 how the fuck they didnt give Tre a try to sing in this album??? not fair!!I love this song =) trying to sing Modern World and play bass at the same time =P
mary_x3 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 i love this song. i can't wait to see it live it's going to be amazing!
KittyCatDuck Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Yeah I love this song too. I love how he sings about "the class of '13". I'm graduating in 2013 too
Johnny Higher Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 In the lyrics of GDA.It lacks "Fucking lies" that Billie Joe scream after "I am a nation ,Without bureaucratic ties , Deny the allegation as it's written"
Clarity112 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but the song structure and name are very similar to Elvis' American Trilogy, and considering they covered Thats All Right Mama, which Elvis also covered, i think Green Day might have been listening to him a bit.also the song is an epic song that ties up the whole album quite nicely.
greendaytone Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I've been really digging this song lately great lyrics and i love Mikes part!"Well i wanna take a ride through the great divide..." Awesome.
Clayish Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Did anybody notice the error in the booklet for Modern World. The first line is supposed to be "I'm the class of 13In the era of dissent"But the booklet says "I'm a fugitive son, in the era of dissent."
leacalifornia Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 yesss....I've waited for so long to hear mikes singing voice.
pau72 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Is one of my favourite but like more the second part Modern World!!!!!!!!!
greendaytone Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 It's great how these 2 songs morph together at the end.And i hope everyone has noted the 'deadbeat holiday' connection at the start!
burnout_13 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I absolutely LOVE the "I am a nation without beaurocratic ties, deny the allegation as it's written...FUCKIN' LIES!"I look forward to that bit the whole time I'm listening to it haha
ThePeacemaker Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 "With money to burn on a minimum wage WELL I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE MODERN AGE!"Best part in the song.Or maybe when billie and mike are overlapping 'mass hysteria' and 'i don't wanna live in the modern world'
Angela. Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 This song is fucking incredible to hear live. It's one of my favorites from 21stCB.
The Grouch7234 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 My favorite part has got to be the final chorus during Modern World where the Mass Hysteria chorus starts to overlap (Hence my sig). Such a great song and is definitely my fav on the album
GreenDay808 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 this is one of my favorite songs on the new album.i love how mike sings his parts in MODERN WORLD.that's my favorite part.i also love how it transistions perfectly to the next song.mass hysteria --> modern world i mean.i just straight up love this song, and i can't wait to hear it live. (though i'm not going to a show) :/
vtashleyt Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 It's great how these 2 songs morph together at the end.And i hope everyone has noted the 'deadbeat holiday' connection at the start!Definitely the first thing I noticed! I think this is for sure the strongest song on the album. The bridge between the two parts, especially, is fantastic, but the whole song is great. I especially love the lyrics. And yes, it's awesome live. A really nice way to end the main set before the encore.
punkrockerlori Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Definitely the first thing I noticed! I think this is for sure the strongest song on the album. The bridge between the two parts, especially, is fantastic, but the whole song is great. I especially love the lyrics. And yes, it's awesome live. A really nice way to end the main set before the encore.Me too I totally agree! It was actually speaks my mind about my everyday life. At the Vancouver concert it was extremley well done! Right after 21 Guns . It was spectacular!
Ila Reto Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 on tour, i love the lights. Mike's voice is refreshing on the album. i have the lyrics "where the value of your mind is not held in contempt" stuck in my head on repeat. (uhm, if that was wrong, forgive me. im still working my way through memorizing the song. i mean the lyrics go by so fast!)
L0205H Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I thought this song was the fastest song everrrr... Off of the album. I tried singing it and felt like it was a rap.One of the better songs on 21CB IMO.
