the very first time i listened to the full cd i knew 21 guns was going to be "it"..the big song

it got way overplayed on the radio and i didn't really think it was all it was cracked up to be

then summer ended and i went to college as a freshman at UC santa cruz...i got really homesick and started actually listening to the words of this song. there are three lines that just defined everything i was feeling at the moment

1. "does the pain weigh out the pride?"

i wanted to move home so bad, but i was scared that everyone (my family, teachers, friends) would be disappointed in me. i wanted to be the successful child, the one that goes to a great college, gets a great job, and "wins" in life, but i finally realized that i hated being away from home more than i felt others would be disappointed in me

2. "your thoughts have taken their toll, when your mind breaks the spirit of your soul"

my best friend went to san francisco state, with my other "best (kinda sorta)" friend...in my mind i decided that they were having the time of their fucking lives together without me and that i would lose my best friend. they weren't...and i didn't...but i realized that i think too much

3. "did you try to live on your own when you burnt down the house and home?"

this is kinda self-explanatory...but yea...i tried and decided it wasn't workin out....fucked up the "relationships" i had made at UCSC, went the fuck home, and it was the best decision i've ever made

i realize this is beyond long and no one is gonna read it but whatevaaaa

21 Guns is a much better war statement than WMUWSE. I just hope the video won't be as epic a fail as WMUWSE.

I love 21 Guns, it's one of my favorites. The lyrics are beautiful and heart-wrenching, and it really depicts the horrors of war and hate. My favorite lines are "Your faith walks on broken glass" and "Did you stand to close to the fire?"

This might have been posted before, but apparently that one little kid Alex Wolff from that nickelodeon show is a big Green Day fan and he did a cover of 21 Guns. It's pretty cute. here is the cover I hope he stays at it.

The first time I saw Green Day was through the video of this song. I froze, I could not take my eyes off the TV. It's an amazing song. I love this song.
