EmmOuGR Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 My favorite along with Peacemaker..A great ballad from Green Day and a perfect song for an anti-war message,in my opinion..
Kaddi. Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 same here, after hearing the fox version, hope they do it the same...you know with billie singing on is own in that one part without any instruments behind him That was so awesome, it gave me goosebumps. This song is just really emotional, I cried when I listened to it the first time and I still love it.
Peter. Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I think 21 guns is one of the best songs on the record..it's atleast one of my top 3 favorite songs
tapdancingowl Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 21 Guns is a much better war statement than WMUWSE. I just hope the video won't be as epic a fail as WMUWSE.I love 21 Guns, it's one of my favorites. The lyrics are beautiful and heart-wrenching, and it really depicts the horrors of war and hate. My favorite lines are "Your faith walks on broken glass" and "Did you stand to close to the fire?"
Juliette Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 This is definatly one of the best songs Green Day have ever written, imo
Farah Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 absolutely a great song in my opinion loove it.and i really like the meaning(s) of it too
Lolra Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 my little sister has just passed basic training and become a soldier, so this song means quite a lot to me in that respect. Also, it's the first time I've gotten her to listen to Green Day, and this was the song she really liked, so it's kinda like a bond between us. gah, so gay [/soppiness]
TheMinority Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 The intro sounds a bit like a Red Hot Chili Peppers song, Then it's just gorgeous and Green Day perfect. Love the piano and the blasting guitar in the refrain. After he sing 21 guns there is a short break or fall or whatever you say in English I love it! And btw before the album was released and everyone was listening to some early demo I could see that this was the song almost everyone was talking about and I see why!
OliDayyy Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I like the intro. But I hardly manage to get in the song. I don't know... it's very unusual I don't appreciate that much a GD song. So, I'm a little bit disappointed this is the 2nd single Despite this, I appreciated much more the song live.
greendayawtw Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I like playing it on the guitar, but the song can get old
TheMinority Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Everyone keeps saying that this song sounds like BOBD and in some ways it does but BOBD has this dark part near the end that's missing in this one. I think this music is more positive then the lyrics belonging to it... What do you think?
DeJennsitized Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I have a feeling this song is going to get as overrated as BOBD. That said, it is a good song; I just think RHS is better as far as the slower songs go.
NowhereBound Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Everything single thing in this song is amazing...Billie's vocals are soooo beautiful.
PNM Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 i love this song i just wish the melody wasn't so repetitive :/my fav part is from "did you try to live on your own..." till the end. the rest is just dull (but i like the lyrics). but this part is definitely worth the wait!
HoneyDo666 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I love this song and the falsetto! It's just plain beautiful and epic...can't wait for the video!
Green Day 13 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 i like this song! and its played a lot on the radio ive heard it atleast once a day on the radio when my mom bro and i are running erends
bjrules Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I don't consider BOBD overrated actually. Its my favorite song. I'm actually starting to lean towards iViva La Gloria! as the best song on the album now.
blc Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I don't know if this has been discussed already but I googled the lyrics and a site listed one of the song writers as "David Bowie", which I think is a mistake. And after more Googling, I found articles talking of similarities between the song and Bowie's 'All The Young Dudes'. Both videos can be found here: http://blog.ez-tracks.com/public/item/sing...rom-david-bowieAnyway, just thought i'd share.
Erica. Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I kind of saw it as Christian asking Gloria all these questions:Do you know what's worth fighting for,When it's not worth dying for?Does it take your breath awayAnd you feel yourself suffocating?Does the pain weigh out the pride? And you look for a place to hide?Did someone break your heart inside? And then it's kind of like he came to conclusion: "If you answered yes to all of the above, then you're in ruins."But that's just me. I can see how people relate it to BOBD, but I think RHS is much more like BOBD. This one kind of reminds me of WMUWSE, but much more powerful.
94th nimrod. Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Love it. Does someone know if the video have been on TV? I want to see it on TV first, but I can't find it. :/
