Tubbie Head Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 So i was playing this song today when i suddenly realized.... it's the same as One For The Razorbacks, only slowed down.. Ohh! I never noticed that before! =0
Guest Charlotte. Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I never really paid much attention to this song when I first got the album I have no idea why - I love it now! The lyrics are amazing
Emmalee Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I never really paid much attention to this song when I first got the album I have no idea why - I love it now! The lyrics are amazing SAME HERE!!!!! It's my new favourite song right now haha I was just listening a week or two ago and was suddenly like "and WHY did I not like this song so much?...*facepalm*" l
St. Jimmy14 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I like that part too!!!!!That picture is amazing!! How did you get to hang out with Billie Joe?
stxrlesseyes Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 "What's the latest way that a man can die screaming hallelujah?Singing out "The dawns early light"Silence of the rotten, forgotten"Love those lyrics. Favorite song of the album!
Penguin Puffball Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Question. When he says the line "what's the latest way that a man can die, screaming hallelujah", is he saying the whole line as a question? Or is he saying it like "what's the latest way that a man can die? Screaming hallelujah!" like he's answering his own question?I don't know if I explained that clearly enough but I'm sure someone on here will understand what I meant.

That's always what I've thought...Good question though.
Mar Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 That is a very good question!I looked it up on the official site, and they have the whole statement as a question, which is how I always thought it was, but I wasn't completely sure either.
bjrules Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I read in a review once that this song wasn't a real standout on the album, but I think that this is one of the real standouts on the album. Its a really good song, and the lyrics are really deep and meaningful.

Its a really good song, and the lyrics are really deep and meaningful.I actually would agree with that review. That's not to say I don't like the song, I do like it a lot and the lyrics are great. But it just doesn't catch my ear as much as songs like Before The Lobotomy and American Eulogy. To be honest, while I liked it in concert, it's the one song from the show that I would've traded for another (maybe Viva La Gloria! instead). It's great, but it's not as attention grabbing as other songs on the album.
Freeny Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I love it when they play this song live, when he sings; "what's the latest way that a man can die? HALLELUJAAH!!!" it takes the song to a whole new level
dagiff Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I did like this one when I first listened to the album, but at one point I listened to and thought, "wow that really is a good song".I wasn't expecting them to play it at Manchester cos when I looked at set-lists I was only scanning and generally looking for older songs, but it was great
Penguin Puffball Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I think he's trying to say the first one. That's always what I've thought...Good question though. That is a very good question!I looked it up on the official site, and they have the whole statement as a question, which is how I always thought it was, but I wasn't completely sure either.Okay thanks. I was just asking because I've seen it written both ways, and for some reason the second way, where he answers his own question, seems to make more sense to me.
Savannah Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Okay thanks. I was just asking because I've seen it written both ways, and for some reason the second way, where he answers his own question, seems to make more sense to me.yeah I guess it could go both ways. and no prob!
Papercut Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 this is the most amazing song on the album, in my opinioni broke down in tears during this and are we the waiting when i saw them live
Andre Bruxo Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 It would be amazing if they made a video for this song.Definately one of my faves off the new album
Nova-Caine Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Just as amazing live as I dreamed/hoped and knew it would be, I welled up the first night in Glasgow and just screamed my lungs out every single night, thank you for this song Billie Joe <3
pisquano Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I think it might be the 5th single, because they play singles during their shows. From the new album they usually play 21CB,know your enemy, east jesus nowhere, before the lobotomy, the static age,21 guns, american eulogy. So I think it might be the forthcoming single.
blc Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 as what sometimes happens, i didn't start to appreciate this song fully, untill i heard it live.<3
Bastard of 1967 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Question. When he says the line "what's the latest way that a man can die, screaming hallelujah", is he saying the whole line as a question? Or is he saying it like "what's the latest way that a man can die? Screaming hallelujah!" like he's answering his own question?I don't know if I explained that clearly enough but I'm sure someone on here will understand what I meant.I read it both as a question and a statement at the same time, and it nails me every time I hear it. Yeah, I know that generates a mind-fuck but I think that's exactly how Billie wants it to be.
Bastard of 1967 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Ohh! I never noticed that before! =0I'm not hearing it, at least not to that extent. The only "exported riff" I hear is Mike's bass line dividing the verse phrases in Razorbacks (Listen at about 1:00 in, "Juliet's crying/cause now she's realizing/love can be/filled with pain and disTRUST - Tre's drum roll right here then blends into the bass line). It sounds a lot like the bass line he's using in between the Static Age's refrain phrases ("In stereo, in the static age" -- same bass line hits right there). Apart from that similarity I can't say it's the same song slowed down.I like Razorbacks though, and don't have it in my collection yet. Gotta hit iTunes and fix that now.
Bubbles. Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Definitely another one of my favourites from the album
E!!i Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 A really great song and I think that this could be the next single or Before The Lobotomy.
Sarahnade. Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I've always loved this one, but it's never been one of my favorites. I'm getting into it more recently.
Red Lights Flash Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Probably my least favourite song on the album. It lacks the sexy saxophone solo.
