BrickOfSelfControl1995 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 i love the heavy drums in the begining and the awesome guitar riff.great catchy song"can you hear the sounds of the static noise?blasting down the stereocater to the class of the paraniodmusic to my nervous systemadvertize love and religionmurder on the air wavesslogans on the brink of corruptionvisions of blasphemy war and peaceohscreaming at you.."
Nova-Caine Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Tragic Ala Madness and Concrete Coca Cola execution.I've been thinking about this line and what I take from it is this but have also read the whole verse to get this from it: (obviously you all have your own interpretations) He's been talking about how the world has become dependent on the modern way of living, buying everything, thinking that we can't live if we don't have the next new whatever it is, (Are what you own that you cannot buy, what a fucking tragedy) how the mass media and world wide advertising has such an impact on our daily lives that we cannot survive without these false items. So it's tragic and madness that we are so brainwashed that our minds are set in concrete, there is no movement. Iif we don't have the latest things things we may die (coca cola execution) Our minds are now poisoned by the modern way of living. He continues that we are being crucified in the next line with your (conscience on a cross and your heart in a vice squeezing out your state of mind.) We are so entranced in the modern way of living, buying, consuming we have lost direction and its a fucking tragedy but its a strategy by the mass media and global corporations because they constantly scream at us to buy the next new thing that we simply cannot live without.Any way that's my thoughts on it and it is still my favourite song on the album, sheer utter and pure genius
Peel Slowly And See Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Well, 21 Guns somehow didn't work as being a blowout single. I suggest The Static Age for being the next.
Kimpsu Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Well, 21 Guns somehow didn't work as being a blowout single. I suggest The Static Age for being the next.Yep, 21 Guns hasn't made that great work as single yet. That's pretty odd, but anyway, Static Age would be perfect pick for next single. Also, it really would make a great video.
Nova-Caine Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 ^^ Yup that was said bout the last 2 songs, didn't happen :/
Kimpsu Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 and probably won't, but I want to see video for this one I don't care about the singles now that I don't listen to radio much, but haha wouldn't it be fun to see your favorite song off the album to be picked for single

Tubbie Head Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I love the song and lyrics!! .. =)I love the Coca Cola execution part.. (and yeah..that's pretty much my interpretation too, Nova-Caine©.. It's fuckin' great!! I love the lyrics sooo much.. like I said) I also love how Billie sings "Coca Cola executionn". Don't know why! hah And.. I just think the Static Age is one of the best songs live, from the album!! The sax solo by Mr.Freese is amazing!! Can't wait to hear this livee! yay
Nova-Caine Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I've got a feeling the tears will fall when I hear this song for the first time live. It has hit me more than any song has for such a long time, It's like it's speaking to me.Yeah weird I know but I just adore it.x
toaster_poodle Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I think this was my favorite song to see/hear live the other night. It was so incredibly huge and anthemic and amazing...especially the "all I wanna know is a god damn thing.." part. It's been stuck in my head big time ever since, I would probably pay the full price of a ticket just for this song right now.
greendaytone Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I just want to belt this song out loud wherever i am when i'm listening to this!
Nova-Caine Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Tony would you please record this song for me in NY x

farley drexel hatcher Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 "All I want to do is I want to breathe, batteries are not included" is an awesome line. I can't even put into words how much I love this song.

I can't even put into words how much I love this song. That part is going to be my 2nd tattoo, it's going up the inside of my right forearm. First tattoo is already designed and booked for the end of this month, which is 'Give me a long kiss goodnight and everything will be alright'. It's going to be in a heart shape and is going at the top of my back x
hardtoconcentrate Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 ^That's awesome! Be sure to post some pics when you get it done Static Age is probably my favourite on the album, so great to sing along to!
emmaILGD! Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I think it's safe to say this is one of my, if not my absolute favourite song on this album.

The verse begins with "Billboard on the rise in the dawn's landscape/Working your insanity." I think this is basically saying that we're bombarded with all the marketing shit that the rest of the verse complains about, right from the moment we wake up every day. Nevermind TV, even if you listen to the damn radio (at least here in the US) you've got the so-called talk-jock "talent" going from whatever celeb-news they're yakking about right into a pitch for some replacement windows for your house, or whatever the latest iGPSCellphone gadget happens to be. Then it flows seamlessly back into the celeb gossip rants, maybe with a song or two of made-for-the-masses, market-tested-playlist pop music tossed in. You can't escape all the bullshit no matter what you do, and over time it nibbles away at your sanity, bit by bit.Yeah, the more I listen to this one the more I love it. I just think if I'd been in Butch's shoes I would have tweaked the mix a bit to emphasize a strong downbeat from Tre during the verses. I'll know more in a week but I'm speculating that's what they're doing differently with it that's giving it a more powerful kick live than it has on the album.
emmaILGD! Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 here here... and we'll all be belting it out together at the O2!! Yessss! I'm sure you'll be able to hear me from up the top
ThePeacemaker Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Who wants to bet this will be the next single? After East Jesus Nowhere, of course

I agree with everything, this song just reminds of Noam Chomsky's book Manufacturing Consent.x
