great song, catchy chorus, love the guitar parts in this one. :)

It sound like the odd-song-out on the album. It was so strange to me, the first time i heard it on the album, it fits in perfect but at the same time sounds as if it doesn't belong on it.

This one is my favourite... this or viva la gloria!

I love the Static Age. It's a great song and it's good to get angry to, especially this verse:

"All I want to know

Is a God-damned thing

Not what's in the medicine

All I want to do is

I want to breathe

Batteries are not included

What's the latest way that a man can die

Screaming hallelujah?"

Soooo under rated.

I find myself wanting to scream "ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS A GOD DAMN THING" a lot randomly at parties or in public...

Not my fav, but I like it. It's just that I'm madly in love with the Act II, so after that...

definately one of my favorites

I like the message that comes with this one. Not to mention it's pretty catchy song with great sounding chorus.

All I want to know

Is a God-damned thing

Not what's in the medicine

All I want to do is

I want to breathe

Batteries are not included

What's the latest way that a man can die

Screaming hallelujah?

Singing out "The dawn's early light"

The silence of the rotten, forgotten

Screaming at you.

It kind of makes me emotional in a way that no other song does. I can't really explain it :P

The Static Age starts off without the trademark Green Day "listenable edginess" to it (in favor of just simply "listenable pop", but then slowly builds, changes to a higher key after the instrumental bridge, and then nails you with that part. "What's the latest way that a man can die/screaming hallelujah?" is just *so* key to the album's laying waste to religious bullshit...and if that's not enough, then they hammer it home with the next three lines: "Singing out 'the dawn's early light'/The silence of the rotten, forgotten/Screaming at you". For me, this ties in the religious fanaticist (fascist?) -critical themes in the album with contemporary politics, blending the church ("hallelujah") and the state ("The dawn's early light") and showing the death and destruction that this combination has brought to the world: "The silence of the rotten, forgotten" -- all the dead soldiers -- screaming at you from the grave. It also makes 21 Guns the perfect song to follow it.

What a record!

I fell in love with this song as I first heard it. It's amazing. I love the music, the lyrics, everything. :wub:

I must agree with everyone whose favorite part is:

"All I want to know

Is a God-damned thing

Not what's in the medicine

All I want to do is

I want to breathe

Batteries are not included"

This song has single potential.

Think about it like this

KYE = American Idiot

21 Guns = Blvd.

Static = Holiday

Posted

I disagree! East Jesus Nowhere makes me think of Holiday, not Static Age.

This song has single potential.

Think about it like this

KYE = American Idiot

21 Guns = Blvd.

Static = Holiday

Not at all

EJN = Holiday

I hope Static Age is not a single.

Id rather see 21CB be a single.

all the lyrics in this song kick ass, its my favourite song off the album.

I really like this song, for some reason it sounds like something off Warning.

Love the key change, and the line, "all I wanna do is I want to breathe"

And this sounds really wierd, but in the chorus when he sings, "in stereoooin the static age", like you expect him to take a breath after stereo, but instead he does a little vibrato...I love that bit. :wub:

I love Billie's voice in the chorus. For example I love how he sings all the O's, like videO, radiO, and stereO. I just love it. :D

^ yeah i agree, EJN is more like holiday than static age.

anw, when i first listened to it i hated it. now i love it. it has a very good potential but not that of KYE (good for a first single= AI) or 21 guns or EJN or even any of the glorias... it just has the potential of... let's just say becoming a classic green day song.

when i first listened to the whole album, this song got immediately stuck in my head, even if it wasn't one of my faves.

I heart this song now, one of the best ones.

'all i want to is i want to breathe' this line is amazing.

All I want to know

Is a God-damned thing

Not what's in the medicine

All I want to do is

I want to breathe

Batteries are not included

What's the latest way that a man can die

Screaming hallelujah?

Singing out "The dawn's early light"

The silence of the rotten, forgotten

Screaming at you.

best part of the song, i agree. so awesome.

^^ My favourite lyric and favourite song from the album. I am currently having my first tattoo designed for me around the lyric 'All I want to do is, I want to breathe'. I've had a horrid relationship break up recently and have to start my life again as a single person. That lyric is talking to me, telling me to take time to find myself and breathe, not to be in a rush, to live my life for me.

All I want to do is, I want to breathe....
