watsername182 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Haha, I got all excited when Gibbs mentioned Horseshoes and Handgrenades on NCIS.But he wasn't talking about the song.
.Militza. Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I am pretty much in love with this song, and the meaning, and the lyrics are just amazing.
Maddy. Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 the drums right after "this old age" are similar to the intro for "The Static Age"I love how all the songs are somehow connected, even if it's just the beat
Words-I-Might-Have-Ate Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 By far my favorite song on the album. The anger behind it is amazing, really brings them back to their punk roots. And Billie's scream is amazing.
dolce Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Oh, I LOVE H&H! I love the way Billie sings it like - like he really means what he's saying. He's conveying Christian's anger perfectly, and this song is yet another diverse track on this album. Definitely straight-up punk, and IDK - I really like the effect on his voice for this song. It's different, but it sounds kinda cool.
Ila Reto Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 on the last "demolition, self destruction, what to aniliate this old age"does anyone else here "remeber" in between? as in, "demolition, self-destruction, (remember) what to aniliate this old age"?
21st Century Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 on the last "demolition, self destruction, what to aniliate this old age"does anyone else here "remeber" in between? as in, "demolition, self-destruction, (remember) what to aniliate this old age"?yes...i don't know if it's REMEMBER...but smth like that it's kinda weird...GREAT SONG
Drew Holiday Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Is this the song that gave 21CB the explicit label, and the song that caused Walmart to not hold the cd?If thats the case, then fuck you Walmart, this is a great song!Best IMO!
Metanoia Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 i love the melodie and the lyrics....they're good if you're frustrated =)
Punx89 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 This song has a strong beggining and when I am listening to this I get excited.. I AM NOT FUCKING AROUND
Bastard of 1967 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Is it just me, or does the main chord rhythm in H&H sound like what you'd get if the Sex Pistols were to play the instrumental bridge in "Prosthetic Head" (off of Nimrod)? I've heard the gripes from some that the rhythm is a ripoff of The Hives' "Main Offender", but if you ask me it sounds a lot closer to what we've already heard from Green Day in Prosthetic Head. Listen for yourself -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uFb1hPpYwI at about 2:11. Makes sense considering the guys are on record saying that 21CB is the most Green Day-inspired album that Green Day has ever made. Also interesting: Nimrod (and thus Prosthetic Head) was released in 1997. "Main Offender" is off The Hives album "Your New Favourite Band", © 2002. So I therefore ask rhetorically: tell me again who borrowed the riff from who?

Mar Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Great song. Although I am rarely (if ever) as angry as Christian is in the song, it's the perfect "I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!" song that I listen to when I'm just absolutely pissed off at everyone in the world.
Andy Chalmers Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 They really need to play this one live more.
hoistthecolors Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 When I heard some of the songs on this album, I thought, oh crap they are just gonna get softer and more 'goody-goody' but when i heard this song, i knew there was still plenty of punk left in themi felt the same exact way.when i first bought the album and put the cd in i noticed how soft some of the songs were, and got a little afraid..but i completely agree with you =]i love this song, it's one of my favorites on the album. a reeeaalllyyyy great one to sing along to, be pissed off to, feel better to. it's got it all =]ohhhhhh and i lovelove his scream that melds with the guitar. peeerfect x)
Miss Hedgie Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I first heard it and was like this is fucking awesome.*Jumps around room one woman mosh pit style.*I just love the anger and the lyrics.and of course "G L O R I A!" at the end.Chuck Taylor's bit made me smile.Basically a good song to feel angry to when you're angry or to just vent out the angry.
bjrules Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Listening now love this song. It captures the anger perfectly.
BuriedInAHole Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 For the most people I talked to, who listend to the album, didn't like Horseshoes and Handgrandes, but I think this song damn rocks and it's pretty good, if you have to fight with your agressions..
DistilledxSpirits Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I remember the first time I listened to 21stCB with my mum and she was like 'WTH? How come there's no swearing?' and then Horseshoes and Handgrandes came on and she was like 'Ah... so this song makes up for it." It always makes me think of the Foxies when I hear it.
