Mari91 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 this song is easily my favorite off the albumthe melody is so hypnotic that it makes you want to listen to it over and over again.the lyrics are amazing also. Something Green Day has not written about and i feel this is a big change for them.I love how he says "Lord knows" i think its adorable the song its just amazing in general, a simple beginning with an intense ending, perfect for beginning Horseshoes and Handgrenades.id kill to hear this song live
Sarahnade. Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Gaaaaaaaaah, how do people not love this song!?
Sarahnade. Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 ^Haha.I mean, I get what people mean by it "bringing the album down" but, it's in a good way! It's the most sullen song on 21CB, but it gets epic. And it's just so..awesome! I don't know, I just love this song so much.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 the lyrics, and his voice are like....idk something that could be played at disneyland... so magical..
Sarahnade. Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Yeees. Blast RHS at Disneyland. Have Goofy pop some prescription meds.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Yeees. Blast RHS at Disneyland. Have Goofy pop some prescription meds.omg i might sig this latter on.
Sarahnade. Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I realized it was sig-worthy a few moments after typing it, haha. But I can clearly picture it. Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Pluto, and whoever else is at Disneyland walking around stoned on Vicodin with Restless Heart Syndrome blaring in the background. It's a funny image. And Mickey turns into a dick and slaps Minnie, and Pluto goes crazy and bites an innocent child. And Goofy just falls over dead; I don't really care for him, his voice is annoying.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 lol.then donald duck cheats on daisy duck.
Mari91 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 i would seriously go to disney to see that
Sarahnade. Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Who wouldn't? Drugged Disney Day, they'd call it.
Supermodel*Robot Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I can't believe I didn't like this song at first. I think it's just because the first couplet is painfully bad. It's just too cliché and abrupt. However, it is definitely my favourite song at the moment from 21stCB. I love love love the strings, they just add this richness that you can't hear in a lot of music these days. I also adore what I call "the explosion" at the end, when all the cymbals come crashing in & the guitar wails at you. The "know your enemy" part sort of cuts me open each time. It just so powerful & ties the entire album together seamlessly. Sends shivers down my spine. Plus the lyrics are so relevant and I feel like they're conveying what I feel & no one else seems to understand.
Mari91 Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 currently listening to this song on repeats.i really just cant stop listening to it. has my highest play count in itunes lol
Sarahnade. Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I don't really think this song is cliche. The idea of writing about drug abbuse is totally overrated, yeah, but Green Day did it wonderfully. And it's not cliche in Green Day's career, so I don't really think of the outside stuff. The strings are amazing, and Billie demonstrates his best vocal performance ever. It's such a breathtaking song.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Billie's voice reminds me reminds me of Drama Queen.Just can't wait for a studio version of drama queen. <3have you heared Billie sing this live? It's just soo amazing. it's just soo weired listening to old Green Day and new Green Day. Like I was on itunes last time and first i was listening to Take Back then all of a suden RHS started and i noticed how his voice has changed over the past years.. It's just so weired lol.Plus RHS and boulevard of broken dreams have the highest play count on mine too. Oh yeah. plust I'd love to learn the strings part on my viola. <3
Sarahnade. Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 This song title always reminds me of the NOFX song 'Bleeding Heart Disease'Similar title, but completley differernt songs. RHS is a billion times better, even though BHD is pretty good. Green Day beats it, though, obviously.

I mean, I love how he sings, but comparing older to newer, I feel like his voice definitely isn't so deep.Billie's really seems to have focused more on his singing technique for this album more so than any other time. His voice fluctuates between higher and lower notes BEAUTIFULLY, and he's now really being sure to pronounce the entire words instead of just quickly singing them. He's gotten more skillful with his singing over the years, most definitely. I love his voice. In RHS I love how the first part of the song he's singing softly and sounds so sweet and the second half he has so much more power to his voice. God, I love his voice.

The idea of writing about drug abbuse is totally overrated, yeah, but Green Day did it wonderfully. Sarahnade. Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I've got a really bad disease/It's got me begging on my hands and knees isn't the best lyric, but I don't think it's cliche. The first line is a bit blunt and not as dolled up as the other lyrics, so I understand that. I don't know. I don't really go outside the box and listen to a lot of songs about drug abbuse and such, so I might be wrong. From the songs about drug abbuse that I HAVE heard, I still think this one sticks out, though.Has his voice in general gotten higher or is it my imagination? God, I love his voice.I think his voice used to be deeper because he was stoned all the time. I could always tell when he was either stoned/drunk because his voice sounded like shit.
