BillieJoe95 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 One of my favourite songs on 21st Century Breakdown it's epic. Especially the lyrics "Know your Enemy" is a particualr highlight of mine. Up there with my top 20 Green Day songs, because of its lyrical content.
Zero. Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I was a bit funny about this song at first - but now I always listen to it.... I don't know what it was but it just clicked and I just love it, its so different but its such a beautiful song in its own way...
Gwen Stacy Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 This song took about two years and several skips to grow on me, but now I always enjoy listening to it. One of those good songs that mostly slips through unnoticed
GenerationZer0 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I absolutely love this song. I've always found it to be more... Chilling than sad. Maybe that's just me.
Desensitized09 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I remember the first time I heard this song. I had bought the album the first day it came out, took it home and started cleaning the house while listening to it. As soon as I buy an album, I always have to seek out my "favorite song". I knew this was going to be my favorite song the moment he started singing the first verse. The piano was so beautiful and Billie Joe's voice was angelic. I had to stop cleaning, sit on my sofa and just listen. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped when he sang, "You are your own worst enemy... Know your enemy" and then it just RIPS into that amazing solo. Oh man... just thinking about it gives me chills. I knew that there would be no better song on the album. Don't get me wrong, I love every song on that album and they're all unique and special to me in different ways, but wow, this song really hits home. The lyrics are so powerful and he sings it with such passion. It took me awhile to learn this song on the piano, but I finally did it and every time I play it, I just get such a calming feeling. Anyway, this is not only my favorite song on the 21st Century Breakdown Album, but it's one of my most favorite songs by Green Day, period. Amazing, amazing song.
ThisIsNotNora Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I think it's nice, but sometimes I get really depressed hearing it, so I just have to skip it x]
jensername Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 This song is just amazing. I feel like I can relate to it a lot, not with prescription drugs, but just drugs in general. It's when you feel trapped, and you've tried to escape it, but you keep going back to it anyway. If you let it take over, it's easy to become your "own worst enemy". Luckily, I haven't gotten into drugs that are too hard. I've learned to control myself. And playing guitar really helps. I feel like I can vent all of my frustrations out when I play guitar... While playing, I realize music is all I need to feel sane. It's actually very therapeutic playing music.
St. Jocelyn Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 this is actually one of my favorite songs off 21st CB. i love the lyrics so much and the solo is amazing! im glad Billie continued to write it...
