pols4tre Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I'm in love with this song, especially the beginning section; the lyrics paint the image of a downtrodden, hopeless world so well.
P3AC3MAK3R Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 i played this song soooo many times today i love it soo much !!
Just Kate Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 i absolutely love this song! i love it's power! the first part and it's reflection as the last part, but i mostly like the Like Refugees part. it's awesome. whole song. it's just amazing. and when there's a Green Day song in my head, then it's this one.
Prisca Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I seriously hate Billie's voice at the beginning of this song. And I also hate the way he says refugees. Worst song on the album for me. It's just never really grown on me. I used to think Last Night on Earth was the worst, but that grew on me.Really? I'm the complete opposite! I looooooove Billie's voice in this song, especially the beginning. And it's been my favorite since I heard it. I love how this song builds up and then EXPLODES! It gets me so amped!i absolutely love this song! i love it's power! the first part and it's reflection as the last part, but i mostly like the Like Refugees part. it's awesome. whole song. it's just amazing. and when there's a Green Day song in my head, then it's this one. Completely agree with you!
Marki. Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 The lyrics are just SO BRILLIANT (as in every other GD song )I think Before the Lobotomy is one of the most amazing songs Billie's ever written I love how Billie singsDyingEveryone's remindedHearts are washed in miseryDrenched in gasolineLaughterThere is no more laughterSongs of yesterdayNow live in the undergroundandWhen It's enough to make you sick to cast a stone and throw a brickWhen the sky is falling downit burned your dreams into the ground andThe brutality of realityIs the freedom that keeps me from...Dreaming ok I'm gonna stop now sorry
Just Kate Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 i really love the power of this song... especially when it's really loud
Mar Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I'm in love with this song, especially the beginning section; the lyrics paint the image of a downtrodden, hopeless world so well.Really? I'm the complete opposite! I looooooove Billie's voice in this song, especially the beginning. And it's been my favorite since I heard it.I agree with both of these comments. Even when Billie's exaggerating slightly in the beginning (at least exaggerating in terms of how I see the world, others may disagree), I still think it's incredibly accurate, somehow.
mandajane Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 im not stoned im just fucked up i got so high i cant stand up<3 need i say more???
Lotte Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 This song is one of my favs of the album. Especially after I saw it live. The intro was just so beautiful
in_your_face Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 aww.. it's one of my favorite songs!!! 'whiskey shots and cheap cigarettes' it's an amazing song!!!
Christina. Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 It really is a powerful song. It's so strange when one song can wound you up and calm you down so easily. I especially love the middle parts. So great!
UnderClassHero Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 This song is probably one of the songs which have the best lyrics, they're beautiful and actually mean something unlike other random songs by other artists always talking about sex and other shit. great song, and nice guitar in here too
Wretched & Divine Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I'm getting a tattoo of a lyric from this song... as soon as I have the cash to actually get it done haha. I'm very indecisive about choosing favourite songs- especially with this whole album, because each and every track is amazing- but I think it would be within my top 3 favourites off 21st Century Breakdown =)
penutt Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Most songs on this album sound like something I've heard before, especially this one. I just can't quite pinpoint it to any particular song, but they all sound familiar to me. But yeah, awesome song.
valeriaREBEL Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 This song is amazing <3 i remember the first time i heard it i was like shocked. It's my third most played on my ipod...
nimr0d. Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 "well its enough to make you sick, to cast a stone and throw a brick. when the sky is falling down it burned your dreams into the ground" Love that part
champagne mami Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Ah, I like this song, not one of my favorites off of 21CB, but it's good. I'm not that fond of the beginning, I really don't know why. I guess it's just too...slow, I don't know. The middle part though, I love that part. "Well I'm not stoned, I'm just fucked up. I got so high I can't stand up. I'm not cursed cause I've been blessed. I'm not in love cause I'm a mess." Those lyrics are probably my favorite lyrics from this song. And I also really love how it goes into a slower beat. Like right after "the freedom that keeps me from...Dreaming, etc" I like how it all ties up at the end, yknow.
green-day1972 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 this song is awesome. My favorite part is "like refugees, we're lost like refugees"
Mar Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Listening to the version from the musical just made me love this song all the more, and that's saying something, because I absolutely adore this song. But the way they perform it on the soundtrack just gives me chills.
Green Day Cellist Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I really liked this song when I heard it on the album, but when I got to hear it live at their Denver concert last year....... man I effing fell in love with this song. I reeeeeeally really hope they play it again at the Englewood concert *crosses fingers*
Guest Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 This has become my favorite song on the album. Seeing it live makes it even better. I feel it's the strongest song on the album lyrically, and musically it's incredible too. I love the transitions.
