I actually think this song is better live, but still, FANTASTIC song.

I love the intro and think the way it's repeated at the end sounds absolutely epic (though it has never sounded as good as it does here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amLXPCepsts - he may forget the 'dying, everyone's reminded line but how amazing does 'laughter' at 4:40 sound??). The rest of it doesn't quite compete, the riff just sounds off and doesn't seem to work, although "Christian's lesson's what he's been sold, we are normal and self-controlled" is brilliant and as everyone else has said, "Whiskey shots and cheap cigarettes" must be amazing live.

edit - forgot to say, the section 'Like refugees, we're lost like refugees, the brutality of reality' sounds absolutely brilliant.

This song is one of my faves off of 21CB. When I first heard it, I thought it was good, but not great. The more I listened to it, the more it grew on me. I love the lyrics, the melody, and just everything!

This was definitely the first song that stuck onto me after the first listen. I can't wait to hear this live! :D

i like this song.

This song blows my mind. Once it gets past the wussy part.

This song wasn't one of my favorites to start with and it still isn't now. I don't know why...the song just never really caught on to me.

i have to say again, fantastic song. love the vocal harmonies.

Love it. especially the part when Billie sings "Life before the lobotomy." it just sounds amazing!!

I LOVE the beginning part with the whole Singing, Dreaming, Dying, Laughter thing and just how it goes back into it at the end with all of the guitar and drums..

Just the way Billie sings it at the beginning just makes me think of a little kid singing it, and then near the end when he repeats it with the guitar and drums it's like he's older now and kind of looking back in a way...lol I don't know...that was just a thought that I had while listening to it.

Another reason why I just love the beginning is just because I relate to it so much. If I could get a tattoo of the beginning lyrics I would.

For some reason when I listen to the beginning lyrics, I think about when Billie's dad died. Because it's like the "Singing, Dreaming" part is like before he died and Billie's family is all happy and singing, and then there's this turning point with the "Dying, No more laughter" thing, where it's like he died and now there's only sadness.

This song is just....amazing.

I love the way he sings "Christian sang the eulogy" in this song. Its great

Hey, here are some mistakes that I found in the lyrics.

The first sentence is "I was only dreaming" (and not I am only dreaming)

And at the end it lacks the capital to I (i can hear them singing.) >>> I can hear them singing.

The song is okay, but i Really Like the Refugees part. :D

I like the song apart from the refugees part.. Ruins it.

the song it's very good,,,but a little to repetitive

The part where this song breaks open (Like refugees...) is one of the best moments on the album. Then the guitar lick going into the reprise of the intro (with the full band and Tre's awesome drum beat)...just pure songwriting brilliance.

Agree. The intro and it's reprise are truly magnificent. Love it.

I'm trying to think of an eloquent and semi-coherent way to explain why I love this song, but I can't! It just clicks with me. I love the intro/outro, and the middle. I love the way everything in the song flows together.

I think what I like about it is that every part clicks-Billie sounds excellent, and the guitars and drums just keep me interested in the transitional points in the song. Possibly my favorite on the album, and the one that I find in my head the most.

This song needs more pages. I fell in love the first time I heard it stream on that site before the cd came out. Still a favorite.
