This song will become an hymn, a call to revolution real. The repetition of sing song is an advantage because it's leading. But it's just my opinion.

I love everything about it, even the "repetativeness"; like someone else said, it's part of its charm. I can never skip it, even though I listened to it one repeat for a whole hour when it came out and it's now my Top Played song on iTunes.Me too, exactly! It's my number one most played on iTunes by about four times. xD I agree, I don't get the dislike, either. I adore this song as much as the rest of the album. Which is a lot.

gnash Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 When I first heard this I thought it was absolutely terrible - my thoughts were something along the lines of "I knew American Idiot was going to be impossibly hard to follow but I wasn't expecting them to fail this badly". I've persevered with it though and in the last few days finally accepted it as being alright - not one of the best. Being repetitive is not a criticism of choruses in general, but I don't like the chorus in this so the fact it's sung lots of times grates a bit. On the plus side, I do rather like the 'The insurgency will rise' and 'Gimme gimme revolution' parts.

When I first heard it I loved it because it was the first song I had heard from GD in a long time, but when I bought the album and listened to the other songs, this quickly became my least favourite. I don't really understand why they made it the first single, but I'm sure they have their reasons. I still like the song, don't get me wrong, but in comparison to the other songs on this album, It's not one of my favourites.

Sure it is quite repetitive, but there is something really exciting about it that gets me pumped up.
