.Militza. Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Maybe in the download section, but I'm not sure.
Sarahnade. Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 To me, demo was slightly better. But I still like this song.Same here.I listened to the demo on YouTube, but that was a long time ago, and I don't know if it's still on there.
Nova-Caine Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I prefer the lyrics in the demo, I was listening to it this morning and thought it was edgier.
Sharmellow Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I prefer the lyrics in the demo, I was listening to it this morning and thought it was edgier.Same here. Each time I hear 21st Century Breakdown, in my mind, the lyrics from the demo are sung.
BillieJoe727 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I LOVE this song! As soon as they started playing it on tour, I knew it was going to be one AMAZING night!
Isabel Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I prefer the lyrics in the demo but I really like the arrangement more in the album version. It's an all round win
Guest Roz Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 What were the lyrics to the demo? I've completely forgotten.I looove this song. When the "ooo"s come in I just get this great feeling.
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 begging usually works haha is that a state to say that you have it?
Red Lights Flash Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 One of my favourites! And I do like the current lyrics better too. Good thing they got rid of the piano intro. It was too easy, three note stuff works on guitar but sounds cheap on the piano.
steelthorne Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 okay, roll with me on this. I swear on Billie Joe if you read up on the origins of the Hell's Angels biker gang, alot of the references from this song fit their description. "Born into Nixon I was raised in Hell" well alot of the original members were born into Nixon, and definately raised in Hell. "the teamsters" could reference the gang. The members of the gang all wear a patch that bears the number 13, as in M the 13th letter of the alphabet standing for marijuana, used to recognize a dealer or user of the drug in the gang. There's other refernces too, but those are the big ones. I could be wrong but ya never know
punkrockerlori Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 It was the perfect song to open with on this tour. I got so excited when the lights went out and Song of the Century came on then this song!
Whatsername868 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 After seeing Green Day live, this song holds more emotion and memories than almost any of their other songs. I always loved it, it wasn't particularly my favorite of their songs before, but it carries so many intense feelings now because of the fact that it was their opening song for the 21st Century Breakdown Tour - what I was hearing the first time I ever saw them after four and a half years of waiting. You know how certain smells can bring up memories better than anything else? Well that's how this song is for me now. I literally have to close my eyes when it first comes on because I get so swept away.I love the ending lyrics: Oh dream, America dreamI can't even sleepFrom the light's early dawnOh scream, America screamBelieve what you seeFrom heroes and consAnd by the way, I do have the demo...am I allowed to post it on here?If not then you can message me for it.
Reject All American Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 the "Class of 13" part sounds kinda like a jigg ^^I personally like the demo better, with the piano intro and all
Clayish Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I really really dont understand how you could like the demo better unless lyrics COMPLETLEY make or break a song...Seriously, the final has incredible production and has SO much more of a kick too it.The demo was horrible quality.
Mar Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I really really dont understand how you could like the demo better unless lyrics COMPLETLEY make or break a song...Seriously, the final has incredible production and has SO much more of a kick too it.The demo was horrible quality.I don't get the hype over the demo either. I don't hate it, but I agree with you about the production. The epic production, and translating that into the live version is what makes the song awesome.
Trotsky Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I really really dont understand how you could like the demo better unless lyrics COMPLETLEY make or break a song...I actually like the lyric changes on the final version but still prefer the demo overall.
MitchBob Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 The lyrics and vocals are better in the demo, but the song itself is cleaner and flows better in the actual song. I just think in the whole album his voice is over edited and too clean, much better live.
L.J.H. Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Definately one of my favourite songs on the album.
dolce Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 The lyrics and vocals are better in the demo, but the song itself is cleaner and flows better in the actual song. I just think in the whole album his voice is over edited and too clean, much better live.I actually think Billie's voice is NOT very edited at all for 21CB. I thought it was far more overdone on American Idiot. On 21CB I think he sounds a lot closer to how he actually sounds live.
Metanoia Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 as i first heard that song..... I immediately fell in love with it <3 such an cool song !!!!
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I.want.video.NOW!I mean..seriously... How long has it been that they've made it??
