greendaytone Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 i still think this has the best music video.Agreed. It is awesome. I've only watched it a few times though. It's such a great opening song, both for the album, and live.
Maddy. Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Hearing this song live really just made me jizz my pants.
greendayfan_0491 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I liked both versions. I didn't really care for either intro. I did prefer the piano intro on the demo compared to the guitar strumming intro on the final version. It is one of my favorites from the album.
Maddy. Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Those two chords build up to this climax at the shows. The piano wouldn't have worked, imo.
E!!i Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I think that it's a great opening song for their concerts, too. When they started with this song, I jumped my soul out of my body and when Know Your Enemy came after this I already had no more energy but I didn't care.
Mar Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Those two chords build up to this climax at the shows. The piano wouldn't have worked, imo.Absolutely. They pump me up like no other.
Sanity Loan Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I love this song so much. Of the 21CB album, this song has the most plays in my iTunes library at 345 compared to EJN at second with 287
Kaddi. Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 At the moment, I actually like the demo version better than the final one. The middle part is just awesome in the demo... I don't really like how they changed the lyrics.
Little Girl Little One Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Love this song to bits! The intro was definitely improved, I don't think the original piano builds up the energy the same way as those two repeated chords do. And maybe it's because I'm just used to the current version, but I thought that while the lyrics were awesome before, they flow better the way they are now. Just my opinion.
Vrock09 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Yeah the demo version was very good, but I like the final version a bit better, but either way the song is amazing in itself!
sammers93 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Love this song to bits! Haha, my friend had the demo version on her MP3 player and I just heard it the first time today and I was freaking out!
Metanoia Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 i have this song stuck in my head for like all the time
Maddy. Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I love this song so much. Of the 21CB album, this song has the most plays in my iTunes library at 345 compared to EJN at second with 287Holy shit. My count is only at 60.
Psycho Britney Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 A little off topic for a second...i realized this the other day, a while back Tre did that chocolate rain spoof, and around 2:33 he says"The(se) scars on my..oh wait..im reading the wrong song" so i think he was reading the 21 CB lyric lol i thought that was kinda funny...anyways, i loooove the video to this song and i love how it sounds like diff songs meshed into one, how the song changes a bitOh aren't you people observant! That's quite funny to hear that bit of 21CB slipped in there!
JadedGirl84 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Probably my favourite song on the album. I just love how it starts slow and then just kicks off and rocks really hard. Perfect opening song for the concerts and the video clip is amazing.
petros Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Really great song and I thing It's the most epic song GD ever had..
Isabel Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Hahaha right as I clicked reply, 21st Century Breakdown came on My play count isn't too high, it's 168.
Tre_Gina Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I love this song and everytime I hear it I think of them running onto stage and the emotion I felt when they started singing it - awesome!
P3AC3MAK3R Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I love this song i can remember not being able to sing it cause i was just way to amazed that i was in the same room as GD at there concert watvhing THEM play and i was less them 1 meter away from BJ at that time so no words could come out of my mouth !! ♥
bjrules Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I can remember hearing the original version of this song, and it was love at first listen, and then I remember hearing that they'd taken the original piano intro out and replaced it with a new one, and I was really disappointed. But now I actually prefer it they way it is now.
Kayfabe Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I think I finally understood one of the lines!I praise liberty, the freedom to obey is a song that strangles me. Well don't cross the line!I think that liberty is read 'liberty', so then he's saying how america (and the rest of the west) is the land of liberty except you're not really free at all, you're free to obey, go to school, get a 9-5 job that you hate and then die. But No-One (the long lost son) is already feeling trapped by this and when he tries to get out, he's told not to cross the line (?)it made sense in my head.
Maddy. Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 ^I get you. A bit.I've been listening to this song non-stop. <3
Just Kate Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 this song is just awesome. i can't describe how much i love it. damn
