tapdancingowl Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I hate how people disregard intros as unimportant because they aren't "full songs". Yes, they are very short, but introductions are just as important as any other song, if done right, and this one definitely was. I get chills ever time I listen to it; the lyrics are so powerful.
OliDayyy Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I think it's a pretty good intro. As if we were opening a book, BJ reading the introduction... and then we're in the story. I also like the sound of this song.
Alan86 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Lots of albums that have intro songs have music only and no vocals. I think its great Green Day did the complete opposite and have vocals only. Great intro to the album
Heather! Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Jesus christ, when I first listened to this, my heart skipped a beat. It's already been said, but this is fucking beautiful.
greendayawtw Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I like it, but i think it can get annoying (Im such a bad fan for saying that i know)
Spark of Insanity Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I actually love the Into. I definitely think it sets the mood for the enire album and its just sounds so peaceful and makes me want to relax, sit down, and just enjoy the ride while soaking everything up. And the lyrics I just find myself singing them randomly and I was blown away by it. But I will skip it when I am not listening to the album all the way through.
Boston Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 i love it.it always helps me to get the right feeling for the album When I first heard Song Of the Century, it gave me goosebumps. It puts me in the right frame of mind to listen to 21st Century Breakdown.
DeJennsitized Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I think it deserves to be seen as a song. It's longer than some songs on my iPod. Billie's voice is beautiful in it.
Spark of Insanity Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I think it deserves to be seen as a song. It's longer than some songs on my iPod. Billie's voice is beautiful in it. I think so also, and I do see it as a song moreso. Its one of my favorite songs to sing sometimes because I think it is beautiful and the melody is beautiful. And I can see it as a really good song that someone can sing acapella. Like with some songs you can't really get the jist of the melody unless you have heard the song before but with this song it creates its own melody. Kind of reminds me of a lullaby sometimes.
Teenage Kicks! Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I laugh right in the middle of this. He sounds really funny when he says the word "they're" Well atleast I think that's what he's says haha
NowhereBound Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Billie Joe's voice is soooo amazing and beautiful, I love the intro...it is perfect!
Sharmellow Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 His voice was amazing. It's a marvelous intro to start the album.
greendayfan597 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 First post here.It is a good demo of whats to come in this album.
Green Day 13 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 though being short and somewhat slow i love BJ's voice and i think its a great way to start of the album! pluss it kind of reminds me of the begining of leterbomb which is a great song
thisisAB Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I LOVE IT! Before I got home from buying the album I decided to listen to this. I kinda assumed it would be the 'sing us a SONG OF THE CENTURY" thing form the site (which I loved). When I listened to it, I was completely shocked. The feeling got so much better when the song ended as 21st Century Breakdown followed right a way with the two chords (that were also up on the site for a while). Wow that was a great feeling. Perfect start to a perfect album
*withoutadoubt* Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 The first time i heard this in my headphones, where the clarity just envelopes you, it sent chills up my spine because i knew i was going on a musical journey with this album. So true for me, too! I think it's the perfect beginning to this new chapter. It gives me chills as it sets the scene, tunes into the voice that begins to tell the story of 21st CB. It's :58 seconds of spine tingles for me.
Lauren Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 This shouldn't be considered a "song".but it's an awesome intro. (but only if you're listening to the album straight through... I always have my iPod on shuffle so I always skip over this song )
Anja Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 i love it.it always helps me to get the right feeling for the album Same here. It´s a good opener and gives a good feeling of what the rest of the album leads to.
Shenanigan322 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Awesome intro, It really puts me in the mood to listen to the rest of album.
Clayish Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I only listen to it if I am going to listen to the album front to back, which is often, so I like it a lot.
gnash Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 If it wasn't in context it wouldn't be much fun, but it's a great, atmospheric way to begin the album and it's sung really well (I actually think this is one of the hardest Green Day songs to sing, I just can't seem to hit the right notes all the way through, particularly at 'sing us a soooong for me')
