Supermodel*Robot Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I just love how Billie plays with his voice in this song. It hits home.
insomniaticnimrod Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 i connect with the lyrics at the end of the chorus "there is no place like home, when you got no place to go". When my mom lived with my step dad, they fought with each other like almost every day, and i didnt really have any place to go to get away from it, so id walk up to my room, fall on the bed, and sigh "no place like home huh...". Its gotten a lot better thoI do love how this song sounds also, Billie has an amazing way of making you love a song, just by the way he sings some of the words lol.
Mar Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 and i like the wry sarcasm in the song, like you can tell Christian's holding her in contempt yet tries to sound sympathetic "little girl why are you crying?"Same. I think that even though Christian is clearly angry at Gloria (I view the "little girl" sentiment as a demeaning term that's used to show her weakness), he knows that she shouldn't be completely vilified. Even the song title proves this; the question marks show that Christian is questioning Gloria's ability and 'power', much in the same way he seems to question the rest of society. However, I think he still has a sense of pride towards her.I'll second everyone else's sentiment on Billie's singing; you can really sense the disappointment Christian's expressing in his voice, and Mike's backup really adds to the song.
Maddy. Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 His voice okay teenie moment over, NOT, but this song definetly is .... do the dutch word: Geil
dolce Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 This song was definitely "love at first listen". This is my favorite song on the album and quite possibly one of my favorite songs they've ever done. Billie's voice is just gorgeous . My favorite part is when he's like "the charlatans and saints of your abandon". He drops his voice through that line, and he says "saints" almost with a southern twang. It's really cool.
love_billie_joe Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Although I think that the entire cd is brilliant, it wasn't until after the third or fourth listen did I realize that this is one of my favorite songs off of the album! I initially liked Viva la Gloria better than the (little girl) version, but now I've changed my mind!
Ila Reto Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 "in the wake, all the way no rhyme or reason, your bloodshot eyes will show your heart of treason"who comes up with this kind of stuff? he's a genious, a lyrical Mozart i tell you!!
sapphired Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 So much to love about this song... the beginning is fantastic, almost oriental. I always get goosebumps at the 'little girl, little girl you dirty liar' part... i dont think that'll ever change. SPECTACULAR!

Brandon R. Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Second favorite track on the album. To me, this song is visual. Gives the listener a clear picture of the story.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Is this song on the musical? It should be.

bjrules Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Very nice song, one of the best on the album. Mike's backing vocals add alot to this song.
BuriedInAHole Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I love this song..It's definitely one of my favs ever!
BraedonHorbacio Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 At the beginning I see a beethoven looking guy sitting downstairs at an old piano organ type thing just going mad. This song sounds so good loud. Out of all the songs on the album, this one sounds best loud. Right when it goes RUN AWAY.
Liam Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 has any one realized that this is one of the songs shown in one of the videos of them in the studio
