jose armstrong Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I just listened to The Clash's London Calling for the first time in a while and realised that at the very end the same feedback that connects Last Of The American Girls to Murder City starts.Just thought that was pretty cool jesus, I can't believe I didn't notice this before

dolce Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 ^ Haha, thanks. BJ is a lyrical genius. He really knows how to reflect his own life into lyrics that we can relate to in our own personal way. That's one of the reasons why I respect him as a songwriter so much.I agree 100%.I have the same type of mental images you guys were describing for this song, too! Billie is brilliant at not using so many words, but somehow giving such detail into a song at the same time that can give you the perfect picture of how he's feeling or what he's talking about. A lot of it also has to do with how he sings it, I think. He's great at portraying different emotions with his voice. Speaking of his voice... I love his voice in this song. He sings in in the most perfect almost whiny way that shows how messed up Christian and Gloria. Favorite line: Christian's crying in the bathroom/And I just want to bum a cigarette/We've come so far/We've been so wasted/It's written all over our faces. I geek out over how he says "cigARette". I just love it.
Reject All American Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 love it, should play it at every show
Metanoia Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 i'd love to see it live....i just HOPE they'll playx it at the show I'm going to <3 great song !
gmcloughlin Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 This song definitely grew on me. It wasn't one of my favorites when I first got 21CB, but it became one of my most played off of the album. <3Same here. I love this song now
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 its too long...i mean its like its gonna end..then it doesnt. lol but i like it..
MitchBob Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 It was my favourite since I heard the album leak. Then I got bored of it. Now it's one of my favourites again, there's something I can't describe about this song.

I just love it. Yeah, his pronunciation of "cigarette" is one of those things I love for no discernible reason! That lyric is also my favorite. While I clearly hear Billie's voice singing it, when I hear it, I instead picture Gloria singing it. I don't know why, but I just can visualize the scene very well.Love the song!
BraedonHorbacio Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 One of my favorite on the album. It seems so perfect, especially the solo. Everything just seems so sonic. I think I prefer this to Drama Queen.
Library Girl Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Epic!"This empty laughter has no reason, like a bottle of your favourite poison!""We've been so far, we've been so wasted, it's written all over our faces!"GREAT LYRICS!
Brooklynn Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 for me, Murder City brings together the chaos left behind in the riots and destruction going around.the desperate/pathetic feelings of being alone and people just looking out for themselves at times, but all everyone coming together to keep the hope alive and the helplessness at bay. easily one of my favorites on the album, but i'm totally unable to ever pick a single favoritei especially loved the live version on Carson Daly. I'm sooo glad they added it on the album, even if it was last minute.
St.jimmys_son@hotmail.com Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 not one of my favoritesYou couldn't possibly be more wrong. It is perhaps the best song on the album.Although i don't agree with people saying that this is Christian 'Getting Angry' or whatever.Although the title suggests anger, the lyrics show that it is a pretty passive moment. 'We're wide awake after the riot'Emphasis on the 'after' in this line.
NoVaCaInE! Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 im so happy i got to hear this live in belfast It was amazing, such a great song!
Minna Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 this is one of my favourites on the new album
punkfunkdisco Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I like when I'm listening to this song on the bus to work and there's a police car or ambulance screaming somewhere and London's adding its own sound effects to the sirens already in the song.
Li Sa Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Every time when one of my class mates asks me for the word "verzweifelt" (german for desperate) in english I start singing really like this song
newsflash777 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 This song has so much energy. Probably my favorite off of the album. Wait no.I can never decide.
ifmemoryserves Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 This song is definitely one of my favorites off of 21CB.I'm not sure why, cause it's not an amazing or ~breathtaking song. It's just really catchy and upbeat and powerful, I guess.
Sarahnade. Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 It's not one of my favorites, but I do love it and I've been getting into it more and more.
Salmonator. Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 This song has so much energy. Probably my favorite off of the album. Wait no.I can never decide.This.
