Sarahnade. Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I love the bass and drum beat in the beginning. It sounds really great against Billie's voice. I also really enjoy the lyrics. I love that Billie wrote it for Adrienne, but that it's a differernt kind of Adie song. Usually, when he writes a song for Adrienne, it's about being in love and has lyrics like "Redundant's' or '2,000 Light Years Away's' but this one is more about how Adrienne is as a person - active in the enviornment and politics. I seperate it from all of the other love songs because it's more about the empowerment of women, which is amazing. I think it's a really brilliant song. Probably the most underrated on the album.I mean, it's not one of my favorites, but it's still catchy, and has great lyrics, and sounds very Green Day-like. I think it could be on any Green Day album. Really great.
bjrules Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Not one of my favorites from the album, but I still love it, especially the chorus. The lyrics are great too in this song. I never really noticed any similarities to "Whatsername" until everybody pointed it out
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 that reminda me i should put whatsername back on my ipod i havent listened to it in over two years...
.Militza. Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 What I like about this song, especially when compared to AI counterparts (although I love those songs), is that they give me a clearer picture of Gloria. I feel like I can picture her very vividly in my mind (beyond the album cover and 21 Guns video) and I know everything about who she is. I love American Idiot, but I feel like Whatsername was underdeveloped as a character compared to Jesus/St. Jimmy. With Gloria, I feel like she's a friend.Additionally, I find it catchy! This.
Guest Roz Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I love the bass and drum beat in the beginning. It sounds really great against Billie's voice. I also really enjoy the lyrics. Metanoia Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 cool song to just hanging around with friends....my opinion =)but ya cool song !!!
Kryssi. Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Playing bass to this song always brings a huge smile to my face. I think this is going to be my top favourite for a long time.
Last American Girl Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 It took me a few listens to it to go "Heeey, this song is pretty cool."Of course the more I heard it, the better it got. It's definitely one of my favorites from the album. (In case you hadn't noticed. )
¡Viva La Sariah! Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I really like this song. I picture a independent girl riding her bike and standing up for what she believes in and not taking sh*t from anybody in a beat up town sort of thing. My own interpretation When I heard this song on a LA Ink promo I started to freak out, like usually. Lol, I just saw the Couple Retreats trailer with Green Day's "welcome To Paradies" playing. Mass hysteria ;]But back to the point: I don't really have a favorite song out of 21st Century Breakdown, I love all of them and "Last of the American Girls" is an amazing song. Cute Billie wrote it about Adriene. <3Lucky her
Black Wolf Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I love lyrics, maybe best lyrics about whole album. And I really like to sing that.
Rae'n'shine Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 The lyrics to this song is amazing. It really paints a picture of who Gloria is and what she believes. I think this is one of my favorite songs on the album, and Charlatans and Saints is my favorite act. The way the song ends and goes straight into Murder City always gets my adrenaline going.
bjrules Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 This is an amazing song. I think its one of the most underrated songs on the album. I love the way the song is about Adrienne, but not as one of the love songs, just about what Adrienne is like as a person.
BraedonHorbacio Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I still can't get into this song yet. It's probably my least favorite on the album. Everyone has a picture in the back of their mind when they hear songs but the picture isn't really viewable if you try to concentrate on it. I guess I don't really like the picture for that song. I don't know.
Library Girl Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 It's my sister's favourite song. When I told her, that they won't play this one at the concert, she was really sad.I like the song, but there are others I appreciate more!
St.jimmys_son@hotmail.com Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 ^ It reminded me of Extroardinary Girl, too.I love both, though. Beautiful songs.Completely agree.Bassline reminded me of Longview.Which is strange because they sound nothing alike. However, i'm not sure how you can link this to hurricane Katrina.
pisquano Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Definitely one of the best songs from 21st Century Breakdown.
Kryssi. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I bet you cry through your vagina now listening to this. I know I was crying in the car...
TheBullwinkle Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I bet you cry through your vagina now listening to this. I know I was crying in the car...Tears come spilling out of every orifice. I love it.
Kryssi. Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I hope you catch some of those into a jar and mail me them..
Mar Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I bet you cry through your vagina now listening to this. I know I was crying in the car... I laughed way too hard at this.
HoneyDo666 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 This song needs to be a single! Everyone will love it! Even people that don't like Green Day!I know I love it
