Penguin Puffball Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Not my favorite song off the album, but it's not awful. I like the guitar solo...I don't know why, it's just catchy to me.
gloria. Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I really like the guitar in the song. It's subtle and sweet.I listen to it when I feel good about myself. I often imagine myself in the story of the song. Here is the LA Inked Promo.
PunkRocks and Coke Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 this is my favorite song on the album, well this one and viva la gloria (little girl)
RebelofSuburbia Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 gotta love the way Billie says those 'American Girls'
Juliette Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 What I always liked about GD lyrics was, that there are songs about girls or women, that are written in a way, that didn't focus on the relation of the writer to the woman but are only about the woman herself. That was poorly worded, I'm afraid. I mean songs like Maria or She's a rebel, they are clearly not written in a "She's so fine, I'm gonna make her mine" style. Rebel Girls as protagonists FTW! Yeah I agree, he just sings about who they are and totally incaptures their personality even if they are just made up I love playing this song on guitar for some reason (:
Saint of all the sinners Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Really like this song. Line that kept me searching inside my memory is "... singing songs on the Eve of Destruction..." and then I got it. It's a song name! Seems to me that every single line was written because of a meaning behind it, not because it simply fits in there. Great work - through the whole album. No song I'd skip.
Johnny Higher Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 In this verse :She plays her vinyl recordsSinging songs on the eve of destructionShe's a sucker forAll the criminals breaking the lawsShe will come in firstFor the end of western civilizationShe's an endless warLike a hero for the lost causeLike a hurricaneIn the heart of the devastationShe's a natural disasterShe's the last of the American girlsIt's lacks "She's" >>> She's like a hero for the lost cause
BrickOfSelfControl1995 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 omg i love the riff in this songright after billie joe says "She is one of a kind,She's the last of the American girls"such a great song. love this album!who agrees!!??? contact me
toaster_poodle Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 This is possibly my favorite song on the album, it definitely has the most "power pop" feel. Reminds me of The Cars or Cheap Trick.
CarmenPunkGirl Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 When i've first hear it i was like: wait...is this whatsername? anyway...i really like it
Angela. Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 This isn't my favorite song from the album, but that doesn't mean that it's bad. It's actually really good. The lyrics really stand strong in this song. I love the lyrics.
Mar Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 What I like about this song, especially when compared to AI counterparts (although I love those songs), is that they give me a clearer picture of Gloria. I feel like I can picture her very vividly in my mind (beyond the album cover and 21 Guns video) and I know everything about who she is. I love American Idiot, but I feel like Whatsername was underdeveloped as a character compared to Jesus/St. Jimmy. With Gloria, I feel like she's a friend.Additionally, I find it catchy!
I wrote Holden Caulfield x Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I really like this song... it reminds me of my other favourite Whatsername : )even when i didnt know that billie wrote this about his wife, it reminded me of her... haha
Heather! Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I love this song, soooo much. It's one of my favorites right now.The lyrics are amazing.
L0205H Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I was listening to this song in the car the other day when my mom said, "I like this song."The only other Green Day song she likes is Time Your Life, hahaha.
Kryssi. Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 This is my favourite song off the record at the moment, I can't stop listening to it
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 i like how it brings out the bass and then the riff (: its great! i can play it its great fun!
-Billiejoezee- Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 eh... i don't really know if i like it. sometimes i like it but then the next day its the song i skip and im like "ugh i hate this."
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 eh... i don't really know if i like it. sometimes i like it but then the next day its the song i skip and im like "ugh i hate this." i think its excellent AS LONG as you dont listen to it too much.
21st Century Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 LOTAG was my fav. lets say the first 4 or 5 days after i bought the album....sounded like you can always listen to it without getting bored...but it quickly became one of my least fav. 21st CB songs...i think cos' most of the songs are much better and not cos' LOTAG got worse after listening to it for a week or two so it's still a good song
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 i think its one of the best because i havent listened to it too much, and there are worse songs on the album
HoneyDo666 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 This song is great! So upbeat and it has great lyrics (not that all other Green Day songs don't!)I like to air guitar and sing along to this one! Like I do with all other uptempo GD songs!
