Arctic Fox Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I love this song; it's one of my favourites on the album. I think it fits well before Murder City. Don't ask me why, it just feels right
DeJennsitized Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I really like this song. I don't really like Extraordinary Girl or Whatsername that much, but for some reason this song sticks in my head. I think it's the electonic-sounding bit after the chorus. And it's fun to play on the bass
Rezurgam Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 This song reminds me of Whatsername, but I think Whatsername is a much better song.
NowhereBound Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I really like this song and I love the sound of the drums and guitar in it.
PNM Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 one of my favorites on the album. i love the part "like a hurricane in the heart of the devastation...". gives me the chills.
Seedless_Reject Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I just heard Last of The American Girls on a promo for LA Ink XD

Green Day 13 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 i like this song. and i didnt know he wrote it for Adrienne? thats sweet
M1KEY Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 It comes across as such a simple little pop rock song, but there are so many subtle layers to it. In the second verse especially you can hear at least 4 guitars. I love the beat, I love the progression, I love the lyrics, I just love everything about this song. Easily one of my faves on the album, and definitely did not remind me of Extraordinary Girl (my least fave song from AI) or Whatsername. If anything, Gloria is more like how Whatsername is described in She's A Rebel. But still, it didn't remind me of any of those songs.sorry, does anyone have a video of it? I tried to find it, but no luck. Google failed me again, I'm switching to bingWasn't there a live vid released on greenday.com a while back?
ScreamsInSilence815 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I've been like, addicted to this song lately.=]
jose armstrong Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 good song, definitely the other songs in second act make this look inferior but good song.
CarnageXB Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I saw a LA ink promo for the new season with the song on it.

Dookie93 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 This song is on the new LA Ink ad, my mom comes running in the room saying "They just played Last Of The American Girls, on an La Ink Commercial." And then I saw it like an hour later, it was pretty cool

Dookie93 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 your mom likes Green Day?and enough to recognize a not popular song?Lucky.Yeah my mom loves Green Day, her favorite song of all time is Time Of Your Life.
chatnoir Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 What I always liked about GD lyrics was, that there are songs about girls or women, that are written in a way, that didn't focus on the relation of the writer to the woman but are only about the woman herself. That was poorly worded, I'm afraid. I mean songs like Maria or She's a rebel, they are clearly not written in a "She's so fine, I'm gonna make her mine" style. Rebel Girls as protagonists FTW!
Agija Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 ^I second. It's not one of my favorites, but I like the song a lot. My favorite lines are: "She's a natural disaster,She's the last of the American girls"
chatnoir Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 ^ Yeah, and I love how the guitars kick in after those lines.

I totally see where you´re coming from and I agree. Billie as a writer doesn´t use woman as objects as most, let´s say hip-hop artists do. Okay, poor comparison but I get what you mean
