The lyrics are absolutely beautiful, although the music could have been much better, in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more...

I think some people are being kind of harsh about it. Yes, it's slow, but what else is a love song going to be? I can't imagine one going 200 mph like Christian's Inferno does. And I don't think it's cheesy at all, but if you do, well... sometimes love can do that to you

I think the lyrics are absolutely gorgeous either way. I have them written and put up on my wall

It's so beautiful, and it kind of reminds me of Good Riddance in the way that its softness is so intense that it is kind of "in your face" going against the quick pace of the rest. It is actually, I think, a pretty brave inclusion on the record, and I'm really glad they kept it. And it still has that grit to it, the urgency of feeling like the world is going to end...

Do they ever play it live?

it's even more beautiful live

Listening through the album other times, I never really cared for it. I just recently listened through it again and I gotta say, I liked it a whole lot more. It definitely is a great song and the slowness just adds to it.

I never like this song much when the album first came out, and I always skipped it. But lately I've been listening too it heaps, I like it in concert too.

I've not listened to 21CB for about a month now. I've just put it on and turned it straight to Last Night on Earth. This song never ever fails to overwhelm me. I can't even describe how much I love it

In terms of music, I like this song. The Edge like guitar effects before the second verse, and the Give Me Novacaine Lead Guitar for the solo.

My beef with this song is how lyrically weak it is. I've tried to accept it, but I can't. The lyrics are ridiculously simple and generic.

I always did see this being a good single for them though. A good prom theme for the teenyboppers. A possible chance to increase record sales, even just a tad bit. However, with the 21cb sales not meeting up to expectations, "Last of the American Girls" will probably be it...

I think Last night on earth was the first song I heard of 21st Century breakdown... It was a video on youtube, some live perfomance...

When I heard Billie singing the perfect lyrics with his beautiful voice... I just remember thinking: This album is going to be sooo good :D

Last night on earth is an incredibly beautiful song, I absolutely love it

I's a beautiful love song. My boyfriend and I think this describes our relationship perfectly. It's become our song, The lyrics are so deep and the music accompanying them is just gorgeous. I haven't heard anything more beautiful quite frankly.

great song

I think the lyrics are very well written. 'texting a postcard' kind of confused me tho. But i really like how it ties in with 'sending all my love' and ending with 'did i ever make it thru?'

i don't know if this was said before, but ive always thought the music right before he begins to sing sounds a bit...harsh? it gets better as the song goes, but it begins too strong. like it's a soft piano, then...bam! then goes back softer

I have alwaysalwaysalways loved all of the 1,039-era love songs and this reminds me tons of those :)

AND the boyfriend, who claims to not even like Green Day, bought me a Valentine's Day card with the line 'Sending all my love to you' in it because of this song - awwwww :woot:
