DeJennsitized Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I dunno, I don't really listen to this song that much. I could never hate a Green Day song, but I find it a little bit boring, to be honest.i think it'd be way more emotional if it was just an acoustic guitar or just piano in the background instead of all those useless effects..That reminds me. Does anyone else hear Billie's voice having a bit of an echo throughout the song? It sounds quite prominant to me since I first noticed it, and I find it quite annoying.
RogueBreakdown Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 The lyrics are absolutely beautiful, although the music could have been much better, in my opinion.Agreed. When I first saw the lyrics to this song I knew it was going to be one of my favorites but as much as I love it they could have made it better... epic even... But I'll take what I can get
NowhereBound Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 The lyrics are truly breathtaking, Billie Joe is so talented in what he writes, and for that reason I love the song even more...
Siobhann Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I think it has to do with how nowadays everything is done through texting. When was the last time you hear of someone writing a love letter, or sending a postcard to someone back home? Today, everything is written over texts. That makes so much sense
PNM Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 i fell in love with this song the first time i heard it! although the music could've been better... less repetitive maybe... but it's still a great song. definitely one of my favorites.
Hermione Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 This song reminds me so much of those wonderfully romantic, even sappy love songs from 39/Smooth. Like those old songs it's a straight up love song with no pretensions about it. It's amazing to see how Billie Joe's songwriting still remains so totally honest and from the heart. And the result is beautiful , especially the line "You are the moolight of my life every night". Love it. Also that line "I walked for miles til I found you" always makes me think of 2000 Light Years Away. That he's still writing about the same person all these years later, well you can't get much more romantic than that.
greenbear Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I wasn't really sure about this song at first. I felt there wasn't much to it. But on repeated listens I've realised that its beauty is in its simplicity. The lyrics come so directly from the heart that when you combine them with a straightforward melody the result is much more powerful than either alone would suggest. And just when you sart to get too comfortable there's the catch at the end "Did I ever make it through?"I love the song now and its still growing on me.
Sharmellow Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 This song has such beautiful lyrics. Before I listened to the album, I read all the lyrics first. When I read the lyrics to this song, I was extremely excited what the music sounded like. I hoped that the music would be just as breathtaking as the lyrics. I was let down though, however. I thought the music was a little boring. There was no...I guess you could call it, "climax" of the song. It was just the same thing over and over. It sort've ruined the song for me.
Dylan. Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 It's a love song. Love them or Leave them, you'll never understand them.
badwolf Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 This is my future wedding song without a doubt!Mine too. It's just a really dazzling song. If I met Billie, I'd tell him he sure knows how to write amazing love songs. And he knows how to make himself sound amazing while singing those songs. <3
Green Day 13 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 i dont like it. i feel bad about being a super GD fan but it just doesnt keep my intrest and its slow and i just feel it goes on and on and also i just dont like slow songs. i will say though if i had to choose a wedding song for the future right now this would be it! i know that kind of contradicts all ive just said but it would be good for a wedding!
Peace and Rainbows Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 i dont like it. i feel bad about being a super GD fan but it just doesnt keep my intrest and its slow and i just feel it goes on and on and also i just dont like slow songs. i will say though if i had to choose a wedding song for the future right now this would be it! i know that kind of contradicts all ive just said but it would be good for a wedding! It is going to be my wedding song. Even though I'm only 16 and not even sure if i want to get married i know i will play it. still this song makes me all warm and cuddly
saintcarlos Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 This song reminds me of the movie License To Wed! You know how the fire on the vowels thing!
jose armstrong Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I like itand it really bugs me when people compare it to John lennon.I'm telling you, I am a die hard Lennon and Beatles fan (shame if you didn't know already) and there's really a difference between songs
thenextsexpistol_mak Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 its cute, and also the first song ive pulled out by ear
Ally Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 It is going to be my wedding song. Even though I'm only 16 and not even sure if i want to get married i know i will play it. still this song makes me all warm and cuddlymine too, and two of my mates have sed they are having it as there wedding song to.i dont like it. i feel bad about being a super GD fan but it just doesnt keep my intrest and its slow and i just feel it goes on and on and also i just dont like slow songs. i will say though if i had to choose a wedding song for the future right now this would be it! i know that kind of contradicts all ive just said but it would be good for a wedding!i get what you mean about not liking but having it as a wedding song, its not my fave GD song but nonetheless i would have it as a wedding song just cos i'd want a GD song for my wedding song and this suits the occasion perfectly
gnash Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Unless you're paying attention to it, I think this is really boring. But actually listen to it and it's really beautiful. Can't think of much else to say, really - although I agree with the earlier comment that I think it would have been better if the music was more stripped down and basic.
alaniluau Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 This was the first 21CB song I heard in its entirety. I adored it immediately and it's still one of my favorites. I love how vulnerable and sincerely sweet Billie sounds. And, like others, I think the "If I lose everything in the fire, did I ever make it through?" bit is fantastic and very powerful.
Pati. Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I like this song, and how Billie sings it so emotionally and the, I'm sending all my love to you and if I lose everything in the fire, did I ever make it through? parts are amazing.
Penguin Puffball Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 This song made me cry when I first heard it.
gloria. Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I quite like this song. It's slow and sweet.Something I can hum and waltz around in my underwear to.Y'know.
Brian Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Very John Lennon-esque. I associate this song with this girl that i liked in high school...
CarmenPunkGirl Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 it's so romantic perfect for a wedding If I lose everything in the fireI'm sending all my love to you.
