J'net Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Plus it happens to all of us sometimes, you get a bit caught up, his playing guitar whatever and suddenly your mind goes abit blank. I sometimes forget the words to my favourite songs in the whole world, just get a mind blank. You are so right! I can be singing along with a song I know as well as my own name, and suddenly I kind of get lost - like forget where I am in the song. So I stumble over the next line and then get caught up.

farley drexel hatcher Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Didn't he say that they'd performed the album four times in full since finishing it, before playing shows? I honestly don't blame him for forgetting lyrics, specially when you think about how many times he must have changed bits around. Look at a song like 21CB, we know that's had lyrical changes. And I guess they haven't had many chances to rehearse the old stuff lately either. I'm sure by the time they go out on tour they'll have rehearsed a few times. And even if he does forget a few words, it's not a big deal, like everyone else said he is only human.
badwolf Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Actually, he replaces some words to some songs sometimes, so it may seem he's forgetting some. And plus in gigs they do have limited time for their performance so maybe he's dropping some lines because of that. :/ Idk.
saffy Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 But he Did that on purpose.I know, but someone asked: what did he say?
Mrs.Kerplunk Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 this man wrote tons of songs in his life..don't you think he might forget sometimes a few words ? ^^& like everybody says here .he's just human & the songs are new
DeJennsitized Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I thought about this earlier. I think if anyone's going to forget lyrics to a song, it's the person who wrote them. If you think about it, us fans, who have probably played the songs hundreds of times, know all the words because we're always listening to them. It's sort of hard to explain, but I'm sure Billie Joe doesn't listen to his own band's music regularly, and probably hasn't played those songs as often as we've heard them. And for a rubbish example, I wrote a poem earlier this year, and I thought it was really good, but I can't remember a word of it now. Imagine writing over a hundred poems and having to recite a number of them, while playing guitar and trying to pump up a crowd. I seriously don't know how he does it. So, Billie forgetting a few words doesn't bother me in the slightest. I understand why he refuses to play some songs, like Misery and Pulling Teeth, simply because he hasn't played them since he was in the studio recording it.
dirtyapathy Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 This isn't even really worth discussing. As everybody else has said, Billie Joe has written more songs than we could ever really imagine.God forbid he forget a line or two once in awhile.
Fulano Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 There's one song that they CAN'T forget [i hope]: BASKET CASE.
Billie1 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 he also forgot the lyrics when they played before the lobotomy at the uptown,he sang in unkonwn language at the end lolbut never mind,as u all said,he's a human .
LilyMarie Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I think things like that are endearing. Not only has he written SO many songs, but I imagine that the songs as we hear them are after a few re-writes...lord only knows what the early drafts looked like so the lyrics may have changed three or four times by the time we hear them, which only makes it that much more confusing. Not to mention the distraction of a bazillion people screaming...
Green Day Nerd Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 haha i remember when billie forgot the lyrics to the grouch sometime during the AI tour. it was pretty funny lolbut hes only human.
kokonut_soda Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Hey, at least when he forgets/messes up the lyrics, at least it's proof that he's not lip-synching.
theeulogy Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Oh, I remembered the video, when Billie sang Good Riddance in some New Year show and he was completely drunkSo he sang the first verse 2 times and just a half of the second oneThen he fell in the crowd btw^^Love him

Brian Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I would rather worry about the fun i would have at the concert than if Billie forgets one or two words to a song! That'll just add to the memory of the guaranteed fun you will have at a Green Day performance.
mallorymaloney Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 and if it's a new song they have the lyrics printed out, at least Billie doesn't do that.Actually, he did that during those recent((ish)) Pinhead Gunpowder shows.
Ila Reto Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 they're new songs, so he'll get used to playing it after a while. on C'ompd a few years ago he forgot the lyrics to Are We the Waiting, obviously didnt stop him lol. and we all know by now that they like to add-lib
Sharmellow Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Billie's only human and he has written so many songs. So, I don't blame him for forgetting one here and there.
Boston Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Imagine playing a guitar, singing, running and bouncing about, and trying to pump up a crowd all at once. There's your problem.
Sharmellow Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Imagine playing a guitar, singing, running and bouncing about, and trying to pump up a crowd all at once. There's your problem.I know, playing guitar AND singing at the same time is so fucking hard. Imagine doing it for 2 hours straight while rocking out in front of a crowd.
Boston Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I know, playing guitar AND singing at the same time is so fucking hard. Imagine doing it for 2 hours straight while rocking out in front of a crowd.Times that by four months of touring and add daily travel, lots of fast food, and missing your family and home.
Sharmellow Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 ^No kidding. So, forgetting a few lyrics doesn't really matter. Anyway, I probably wouldn't really notice it at the concert unless he totally bombed the song.
