First of all he's not the only person in a band to mess up the words, I work for a '80s cover band during the summer and if it's a new song they have the lyrics printed out, at least Billie doesn't do that.

Well, that's not completely true, he switched the lyrics for Song of the Century and the intro to American Eulogy (which is an understandable mistake) at the beginning of the Fonda show. You could tell he was a bit drunk though. Anyways, during one of the pauses they came out and taped a copy of the words for him to read when he got to American Eulogy, which as you can see here he pulled up and read when he got to the song:

I'm not saying this a bad thing, they were all exhausted with a month of pre-tour shows, interviews, promotional photo shoots, meet and greets, etc.

Other artists do it too. They have a great recording of John Lennon signing Come Together live in New York where he messes up the words a bit, and even makes a comment before hand saying the fans probably remember the lyrics better than him. Probably applies for a lot of artists. I think he's doing fine though.

who cares, forgetting the lyrics and then being able to laugh at yourself and laugh at your mistake aswell as changing up the lyrics live makes the show special.

But it does seem to me that he's been drinking more on this tour...but maybe it's because last tour i was younger and wouldn't have taken as much notice....

Because then again, I look back on all those concert videos and performances from a while back where he's hammered and I just think I must not have taken notice before now, haha.

I don't care about Billie Joe forgetting the lyrics - not at all. I think it's not even worth discussing.

He's got a ton of lyrics in his mind ... he would be supernatural if he didn't forget them sometimes.

He has wrote more than 100 songs it is normal to forget lyrics, he's human, and I have heart the new album thousands of times and sometimes I can't remeber the lyrics so it is normal, in few weeks or month I think he'll remeber the lyrics perfectly

Well, as most of you said almost the same I can just say that I agree with you. He wrote so many songs, it's almost impossible to remember all of them. Plus, he doesn't only have to remember the lyrics, but also the chords, so I forgive him

They're new songs. Give him a break. He's only human. He's not some God whose perfect like the vast majority of the population think. I forget lyrics to my own songs as well. It's no big deal. Plus it's not like he's screwing up other people's songs. Let him screw up and forget his own lyrics. It's an innocent mistake. Plus if he changes lyrics around so what? It's his songs, he can do whatever he wants with the lyrics.

I don't blame Billie for forgetting lyrics, he's written a butt load of songs and the songs off of 21CBD are new. He's bound to mess up the lyrics every once in a while.

On Jay Leno back in 2004 when Billie was singing Boulevard of Broken Dreams he said "my shallow's the only one that walks beside me". I thought that was kind of funny.

Plus it happens to all of us sometimes, you get a bit caught up, his playing guitar whatever and suddenly your mind goes abit blank. I sometimes forget the words to my favourite songs in the whole world, just get a mind blank.

and really he's an grown man, I don't think he'd go on stage wasted. Little drunk maybe, but not as much to forget the lyrics.
