forget_me_nots Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Being broke sucks. : (I agree! >.< There's too much Green Day going on around here, I can't do chores fast enough to get the money! Haha, I need a job at this rate. But I'm excited for this, seeing as it's damn near impossible to find Carry the Banner and Jump Salty anywhere and this has songs from those two.
Ila Reto Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 do you think they'll ever have it for sale in stores? because i also remember that they're going to reissue their old albums....but the CD stores here (FYE, Target, etc) dont seem to have any of them.
wwnflat_punk Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I really love Green Day, but never heard any "Pinhead Gunpowder", what is their sound like (FHT, Network). I imagine it sounds a lot like Green Day. Are they worth checking out?

Are they worth checking out? They are not like either the Network or FBHT. Definitely more punk, rawer, less polished. Definitely worth checking out. Start with Goodbye Ellston Avenue as a transition. I'm not as fond of the albums where Mike Kirsch sang a lot of the vocals, I prefer Jason and Billie Joe's more melodic vocals. But that's just personal preference.
forget_me_nots Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 ^^ I defintely agree.do you think they'll ever have it for sale in stores? because i also remember that they're going to reissue their old albums....but the CD stores here (FYE, Target, etc) dont seem to have any of them.>.< I know! And FYE is so good, they usually have everything! They have FBHT, but no Network or PHGP! They failed me. I had to buy all of the CDs from amazon. >.<

Are they worth checking out?yea they are, it's definately worth looking into- for starter's i would go with the album "Shoot the Moon". then start listening to random songs from them...its the way im doing it atm at least. And if you're lucky enough to find the other albums i am forever jealous! As for the sound, it's kind of like pre-Dookie green day meets a garage band sound. idk how to really put it, but Jason has a HUGE role in vocals (with Billie as second vocal) and it's really refreshing.
Another Urchin Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Being broke sucks. : (I agree, but I look at this as a good thing. I've always wanted to listen to Pinhead Gunpowder, but couldn't afford to buy everything (and I'd have no idea what to get otherwise). This would allow me to get an idea of what they're about without spending way too much.
Ila Reto Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 ^ and youtube  thats how im got into the band....listening to all the songs that they've preformed live <3
Robin105 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Live Versions Myspace has them up. Can someone rip them?
Another Urchin Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Actually, looking at the members of Pinhead Gunpowder made me curious about other bands (such as Mike Kirsch's Fuel), which inspired me to finally check out Fugazi. Youtube for now, but I just added a bunch of bands to buy their albums. So much for saving money
Guest Shangri-La Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Live Versions Myspace has them up. Can someone rip them?i saw that but i need it on vinyl. someone posted a link to one a few months ago that let you preorder it for $40 but that's seems really ridiculous. and now i can't find it..

I had to buy all of the CDs from amazon. >.< I found the Network Money Money 2020 cd and a DVD at FYE, both used for like $1.99, but wasn't a big fan of it. I also got the last FBHT cd, I think they only had one.
Tripe Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Live Versions Myspace has them up. Can someone rip them? Thanks for that!
gabigo94 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I have the Japanese version here (MP3), send me a message, and i will pass you the link
forget_me_nots Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I also got the last FBHT cd, I think they only had one.Yeah, haha, when I went to FYE they only had one. They fail at everything. Thank God for amazon, I got all my PHGP CDs for like three dollars each. I'll have to buy Kick Over the Traces from online, too. >.<

It was as simple as that, perhaps they've scrapped the Japanese vinyl release if that's what you were talking about.
toaster_poodle Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I really love Green Day, but never heard any "Pinhead Gunpowder", what is their sound like (FHT, Network). I imagine it sounds a lot like Green Day. Are they worth checking out?I've always kinda thought of them as Lookout-era Green Day mixed with Rancid minus the ska. I'm not sure how accurate that is or how I originally came up with it, but they're definitely more punk and less pop than Green Day brings. They're an awesome band because by the very nature of the project it is 100% just for fun, no business or politics or any other pressures like that that you get with a regular "working" band. If you're getting into them I would get Jump Salty, which is basically a combination of all their EP's before that (that were only released on vinyl, I believe), as well as the albums Carry the Banner and Shoot the Moon. Get the EP that has "West Side Highway" on it too.
Nova-Caine Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I love Carry the Banner, in fact I'm going to have a Pinhead day today
Guest Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 am i the only one who thinks its weird they are releasing a greatest hits album?i didnt know they really had any hits lol..i dont mean it in a bad way i just mean they arent really mainstream or anything
Greenday_Aussie Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Too bad they never released the West Side Highway Vinyl on CD (the one with On The Ave V1 ect)I dont think Ive got the tracks right, it was the last release from the tour last year.
