Green Day's on Rock Band!

This is awesome news. But doesn't Green Day know RockBand(as does Guitar Hero) censors all songs? So will we only get the 'clean' songs that have no cursewords? I don't see RockBand releasing a game rated M(for mature) which it would be if it is uncensored. They wouldn't sell to their target audience.

sweetness! hopefully it comes out on PS2

This is pretty cool. At the very least, it's Green Day karaoke, which is always fun. And Tré's drum parts will be similar to the real deal. The rest, at the very least, will be fun (honestly, I would expect the bass to be more interesting than the guitar because there's less chord strumming).

Plus, it's Green Day! What's not to love?

Rock Band is way better than Guitar Hero.

Wish they did it for Guitar Hero...

^ I agree :(

Right now I'm in the mix of saying "OH HELL YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAH" and "OH COME ON I HAVE TO BUY FUCKING NEW CONTROLLERS JUST FOR THIS GAME THANKS A LOT"

I don't even have a modern gaming system that I can call my own (most recent is an N64). I'm tempted to buy the game to play at my friend's house.

does it work with PS2?

Honestly, Guitar Hero and Rock Band are practically the same (as far as gameplay is concerned). Of course, one is made by a reasonably small developer, the other by a humongous soul-sucking corporation, so you might want to support Rock Band for that reason.

No

Shit, now I have to buy a new system

I just like Rock Band because they have music I love but with guitar hero its mostly metal. I love alt rock

Good point. I think half the songs on Guitar Hero are shit but I still enjoying playing it.

As for Rock Band, I might buy it but I don't know.

That's true, although Guitar Hero has diversified quite a bit too. The reason was that, for a guitar game, metal makes sense since the ethos of metal is complicated guitar parts that need to be played with precision. Punk has always had a much more simplistic pick up a guitar and play three chords if you have to attitude. The addition of vocals and drums has allowed guitar hero to add a lot more variety as well.

^Yeah, I mean I would never choose to listen to metal usually. But when it comes to playing on Guitar Hero it's a whole different ball game! Guitar Hero is like air guitar - the more cheesy, complicated or over-the-top the music, the more fun it is! I can't stand Lamb Of God or Guns 'N Roses but I sure enjoy them on there.

However Green Day songs would be even more fun.....just because it's Green Day

The Beatles and Green Day.

That's more than AWESOME.

What if they have like a "Rock Band: Green Day" like the did with "Rock Band: The Beatles"? and what if it comes with a rock band controller version of "blue" or "floyd". I would be in heaven.

OMG! I would just about pass out if they announced a "Blue" Rock Band controller!

I just started playing Rock Band for the first time a few months ago and for the first moment I played, I told my friends there needs to be a Green Day version. Now its here, I'm wicked excited!

I dunno if I fully agree with that. The HUD on Guitar Hero is a lot more flawed in design, especially how the drum kick color blends in with the colors of the background. Plus, I've owned both World Tour and Rock Band 2 - and Rock Band was just a better experience. For one, the graphics actually look decent. Guitar Hero has hideous character models (although they improving).

At the end of the day, I think the general consensus in the gaming community is that Guitar Hero franchise is going down hill, especially after they tried to mimmick Rock Band. They really should just focus on the Guitar Aspect of the game, and make it a more realistic challenging game. That is their niche. Trying to compete with Rock Band with shitty HUD and half assed instruments isn't cutting it.

Confirmed:

Harmonix has been hinting around this, but now we have some official word: Green Day is bringing tracks to Rock Band via DLC in three-song packs. The first will arrive on July 7 and will include ... why, their new stuff, of course! Just like you were hoping! Specifically, you can look for "21 Guns," "Know Your Enemy" and "East Jesus Nowhere" from the band's new 21st Century Breakdown.

Before you lose your mind, take heart! More (hopefully earlier) material from the band is coming on an unannounced date. Can we request "All By Myself"?

Rock Band all the way.

GHWT tried to copy a frat house that's suspiciously like my fraternity's letters... bastards.

Looking VERY forward to this. Lets hope they rerelase old albums in full for download, it'd be awesome to be able to play all the way through AI.

Since I don't actually play these games, all I can say is good for whoever has it. East Jesus Nowhere should be fun to play.

But really, people should use the hundreds of dollars they spend on this program and game system and just buy a guitar, or a bass, or a drum set.

Then they could actually start a rock band.
