madie Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 ¡Viva La Gloria! used to severly remind me of a song, by Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston or something. When I heard it for the first time, I could hum & predict the tune at the start because it was so similar, so could my sister.
Lauren Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 For those of you saying that 21st CB has songs that sound like old green day songs ye are right. Mike says it in this interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxsLIZD-xBk...feature=relatedAt 3:16 Mike says this album was influenced alot by Green Days own music. To Quote "This Album is by far the most Green Day influenced Green Day record"thanks for this!
Captain Pasalacqua Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 The part in Viva La Gloria when Billie sings "Say a prayer and light a fire, we're gonna start a war. Your slogan's a gun for hire, it's what we've waited for"sounds like the part in Worry Rock when Billie sings "A knocked-out dragged-out fight, fat lips and open wounds. Another wasted night and no one will take the fall."
...staples? Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Little Girl sounds like Misery in a lot of ways to me I think the album sounds like Warning too. I don't know or care, I love the album
Jaymee!! Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 The first time I heard the chorus of The Static Age I was instantly reminded of Church On Sunday.Peacemaker reminds me of Misery, simply because of the feel of the song.
Rbka Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Whenever I have the first part of American eulogy in my head it always randomly transforms into Deadbeat Holiday. They're very similar. I think its nifty.
NowhereBound Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I always thought that Viva la Gloria! kinda sounds like Favorite Son (maybe the guitar in the song, idk). I could be wrong. :/
Lauren Posted August 8, 2009 Author Posted August 8, 2009 Peacemaker reminds me of Misery, simply because of the feel of the song.I also think Little Girl sounds like Misery. Most other people don't hear it, though. :/
elanorelle72 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 and sometimes the harmonies and chord progressions of Green Day songs are from ones used in the 1700sits kind of late now to worry about that....I get tired of when people say people ripped such and such offpeople have been homaging and influencing music since the 1700sthat is a whole thesisone could say A sounds like B...but B ripped off Cso how far does it get where it gets crazy....after we all know that Basket case has the same chord progression as Pachabels Cannon
Guest Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 21 Guns-The solo sounds exactly like the Full House Theme song. (Lauren)lol this cracks me up, it really does sound exactly like it.
GreenDay808 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 ok i just realized this today,if you slow down holiday to the beat and rythm of 21 guns, they sound exactly the same! try it! i was playing guitar, and not paying attention, and played it and was like "whoa they sound the same!" ....yeah!
Juliette Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Kiiinda... there's probably a few songs that if you played them to the same rythm as another song would sound slightly similiar.
The Muffin Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 hey, I figured this... the beginning of Horseshoes and Handgrenades, you know, that military stuff... Sounds the same like the beginning of Holiday in the Sun by Sex Pistols. And if I recall, that was the song that changed Billie to a punk rocker?
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 21st century break down and see the light def has the same intro, but 21st is slower. oh and 21 guns intro sounds like the holiday intro if you listen carefully, same notes...
Eirik Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 ^ Reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally? :o :o Oh, and, no, not same notes. Kiiinda... there's probably a few songs that if you played them to the same rythm as another song would sound slightly similiar.Well, they have the same chord progression, like Wonderwall and BOBD.
McNavdo Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Is this really worth talking about????? Of course after 20 years the songs are going to sound similar, It's exactly the same dilemma as The Simpsons where they have basically done everything and are now doing it all again but with little tweaks
Brian Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I also think Little Girl sounds like Misery. Most other people don't hear it, though. :/I hear it!! definitely at the beginning!
metalhead#87 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 listen to "summer in the city" by the lovin spoonful (hey,my parents like weird music(that songs kinda cool though)). The piano chord progression of most of the song sounds really similiar to the restless heart syndrome progression, just a lot faster.
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 the static age kinda sounds like church on sunday
HoneyDo666 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Don't know, don't care! I'm obsessed with this album, it's almost too good! I love it!
Mechanical Man Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Oh! You mean, how ALL OF THE FUCKING SONGS sound like AI songs? Same chords, mostly.
Sarahnade. Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 The beginning drums of 'KYE' sound like the drums from 'Rebel Girl' by Bikini Kill and 'You Better Pray' by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
LetItBeHappy Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 21st Century Breakdown: Similar to Jesus of Suburbia's "City of the damned" and to Longview's drummingKnow your enemy: The other day I was listening to the Beatles' "White album" and in one song there's a drumming very similar to the enemy's one (don't know the name of the song, 'cause it was a cassette and it didn't have the name of the songs ¬¬)Horseshoes and handgrenades: The intro it's the same as the intro of Holidays in the sun of The Sex Pistols, does it counts?still... 21CB ROCKS (L) xD
