**nobodylikesyou** Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I remember emailing the guy from KLAX and having a discussion with him about this song, I dont remember what we said. I will check my email and see if its still there.
Guest Shangri-La Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 ^it's just the song he played at the talent show. nothing we don't already know.
Zalex Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 ^thats what I was thinking cause I remember hearing a clip of it in Driven, so why are they saying its from Gilman?
Guest Shangri-La Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 ^thats what I was thinking cause I remember hearing a clip of it in Driven, so why are they saying its from Gilman?because they used to play it live! the bootlegs that i know it's on is the kalx one from '89 and one of the early gilman shows. i'm sure there's a lot more but i don't have all of the old bootlegs.
Jack96 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I ink i have this on my 1039SOSH computer extras. just read other posts guess its not lol
Foxboro Hot Tubs Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I think there's also a download link in the Audio Download Links here from GDCI'm sure I found the link somewhere on GDCedit:found it!http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...showtopic=40734it's at the bottom of the Miscellaneous Songs. it's the Unknown Song 2
Kerplunk!!! Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSeKZ8AWiKYThis is one on of my favourite Green Day songs even though the quality is so poor, i have this version though its a better performance than the one posted on the first page.
liquorhill Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 what about this short cliphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjGQ_Rg5rRY...lated&pos=3
Ila Reto Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 awe i love this song to death, but not this version because it's just some youtuber cover. but i've heard the original, played live, i think it was KLAX and it used to be up on youtube but not anymore. you can find it in the downloads section...i think under 'unknown tracks' or 'what about today'. no, actually What About Today is the demo that sounds like The Network, but still...
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Real. Billie posted it up on the voice comments on GD.com when they used to do those.
Poo Flinger Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjGQ_Rg5rRY...feature=relatedHe sang it on stage in high school possibly for a talent show. That is probably why it was not released.that shit's so old we'll never find itThat is what I am probably running into with the television thing I've been looking for. If only we were able to VHS record it back then, but if we were able to do that it probably would have been lost anyways.
fatherotti Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 why are you guys asking why it was never released?theres alot of GD songs that werent released but were played live at some point.....why?.....because they always play new material live before it goes to a new album or before they even get a record producing deal! half of that material that is played live never makes it to an album, because they come up with better song ideas at the hands of professional writers that come with the record deal and eventually that old material is scrapped or completely remixed----------------------------------------in this case they played "what about today?" alot live especially at gilman...but it was shortly before Dookie so that song was completely overshadowed by better song ideas, so it was scrapped from being released but not from being made or at least half-made
