Chad is Rad Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I'll check for it next time I listen to the song, but I didn't notice it before. That's pretty funny, though.
RebelofSuburbia Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I just listened to East Jesus Nowhere and didn't hear anything. I am now tempted to listen again, but I can't just turn off Peacemaker There's a few songs (by Green Day and others) where there's bits that sound like my mom calling for me or a new msn message to me. Like others said, I tend to fall for those things too. Except for the mom thing now, since I don't live at home anymore, that'd be a bit weird otherwise edit: ok I just listened again but I can't hear anything. Maybe next time I listen to it with headphones.
Samantha Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 Haha yeah I think its randomJust one of those things you catch when you're not paying attention
Spark of Insanity Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I've never heard of it, but there are a lot of songs that I've heard that have a similiar sound to it. And I always fall for it, and one even sounds like my mom calling my sister. But I'll probably notice the phone ringing sound now.

Spider Tre Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 obviously you haven't watched their EJN performance at yahoo music (or whatever it's called)the "phone ringing" is Tre doing backup vocals going 'ahhhhhhh'
Anja Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I know what you mean. I´ve heard a lot of songs with strange sounds like the phone ringing you mentioned or in another song, there´s some strange noise and it sounds like someone´s calling my name (obviously I´m not the only one who hears strange sounds in songs) Creepy.
Samantha Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 It definitely doesn't sound anything like Tre singing... so yeah
TheBullwinkle Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I know the noise you're talking about. Makes me look around for my phone every time.
Guest Shangri-La Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Are you talking about the background vocals?? it doesn't sound like a phone to me..There's a certain Green Day song (I don't remember which one) that every time the chorus comes on there's a part that sounds like my mom calling for me. I always fall for it and pause my music to see if she called. There's another song, not Green Day, it's called Black and Gold by Sam Sparro. There's a noise in it that sounds like the noise an MSN conversation makes when you're not in the window, and I always look down to where my conversations are expecting one to be orange because someone is talking to me. I never actually noticed the phone sound in East Jesus Nowhere though.Whenever i hear the door shutting sound in Going To Pasalacqua i always have to pause the song to see if someone is breaking into my apartment.. it's creeepy.
AtTheLibrary19 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 haha oh I know what you mean! The first 10 times I listened to the song during the chorus I was like "wtf is that!? is it keyboard!?". But then I saw them play it live on Letterman and during the chorus where Billie doesn't sing and there's Jason's solo I think it's just Mike/Freese/ the other backup singers doing ahhhhs. It's definitely not Tre though, he doesn't do vocals on this album or live for this song. I'm almost positive that's what it is. When it's blended with the whole band and Billie singing it sounds so bizarre though
Sharmellow Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Yeah! I actually thought my phone was ringing once or twice and I pick the phone up. I'm like, "Hello? .......Shit, I fell for it again."The phone in my bedroom doesn't have caller ID and doesn't light up and shit like the phone down stairs.
Fulano Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 During the chorus of East Jesus Nowhere theres a ringing sound in the background and EVERYTIME I listen to it I think its the house phoneIt's the same exact sound !And it freaks me out, especially when I'm listening to it late at night. Late night phone calls are never really great to recieve...But yeah thats about it Anyone else notice this ?Everytime that i hear EJN, since it was played on radio preview of the album, i can notice this...But to me it's not like a phone ring...There are songs that if i'm with headphones, stranges sounds can makes me confused a little bit if it's like something real...
Hermione Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Lol there's so many songs that do that to me! I can't hear it in EJN though, which is lucky considering how much I listen to it. Some songs make me think there's someone knocking on the door too. Guilty Conscience is one of them.
alexandrez Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 obviously you haven't watched their EJN performance at yahoo music (or whatever it's called)the "phone ringing" is Tre doing backup vocals going 'ahhhhhhh'exactly.tre and o think jason freeze.jason white pretty much never sings on this song as far as the videos tell us.jason freeze might be helping tre out with that.haha oh I know what you mean! When it's blended with the whole band and Billie singing it sounds so bizarre though It is tre. he has a mic on his side. go watch the video again.mike and that other guitar dude in the back are doing a different backing vocal. they are doing harmonies with Billie's main harmony.
spark in the night Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 there's a sound in Give Me Novcaine that I hear that reminds me of a computer sound..it's like a cricket kinda
Guitar4Girl Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I haven't noticed the phone ringing thing, I think I might just listen to it again.I think there's a Paramore song where it sounds as if someone says 'ouch', might be That's What You Get.
Haz Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 In before the lobotomy when it's the "like refugees(Refugees)" I always think the echo of refugees is my mum calling me.
Eirik Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 It definitely doesn't sound anything like Tre singing... so yeahWell, on the record it's probably Billie, with a whole lotta studio editing. Live, it's Jeff/Freese/Tre possibly with Mike/White.
