Bastard of 1967 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I don't know, it's not a huge flop in the USBut I was expecting it to sell like 500k in it's few days, it's not even hit that after like a week and a half. But again worldwide numbers have been great, and the album is kick ass that's all that mattersGive it time - KYE is still the #1 requested song on Washington DC's modern rock station over a month after its release, and we're waiting for the two, three, four adult top 40 and soft rock stations we have here (yeah, they all suck, but what can you do?) to pick up 21 Guns.
Bastard of 1967 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I blame Wal Mart. And I'm sure sales will shoot up once 21 Guns get recognized.Great post on Larry Livermore's blog about the whole WalMart issue....I think the gentlemen from Oakland would approve: http://larrylivermore.blogspot.com/2009/05...es-nothing.html
NickD Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I don't know, it's not a huge flop in the USBut I was expecting it to sell like 500k in it's few days, it's not even hit that after like a week and a half. But again worldwide numbers have been great, and the album is kick ass that's all that mattersReally? half a million the first few days? Dookie never even got to number 1, and that's the album that kick-started the rock movement we have today...it's not a flop at all. anywhere in the world. and you realize that it's basically sold half a million by now. it was almost 300k the first "week" it was on, and it is basically 200k after the second week
MikexBillie Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 oh well it's doing great. here at least. small country with 5 million people and it has sold 15.000 copies. (Denmark. xD) number 1 this week. new numbers'll come in tomorrow at midnight. no flop at all. GO GREEN DAY!
sroy Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 really, as long as we enjoy the album , and the album sells enough for the guys to be able to keep making music for a long time comfortably , it shouldn't matter how much it sells beyond that margin.(although,it'd be safe guess to say it will) .As far as eminem goes, well i don't like the album either, but i think it'd be good to acknowledge his marketing team, really he was all over the place,21cb had know your enemy, relapse has at this point, 5 singles off of it .
MikexBillie Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 5 singles? i thought he only JUST got out with his second? 0_o.. oh well. Danes are behind.
Tek Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Freakin crazy right, AI done better than 21st CB..I don't get itAmerican Idiot had a better lead single...and IMO - a better album.
sroy Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 5 singles? i thought he only JUST got out with his second? 0_o.. oh well. Danes are behind.yeah, i was kinda shocked too but he's released 5 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relapse_(album)on a side not, 21cb has actually sold 166k.
Fauxfink Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Blame Wal-Mart? Please. Who the fuck cares about record sales anyway? Isn't the point of good music to care about the music and message, not the conglomerate opinion and popularity of the zombified masses? And comparing them to Kenny Chesney and Eminem--- those are two completely different audiences. Those "artists" capitalize on a stereotype of their clique, country and rap. Is that what we want Green Day to become, is that what they are to you, a category and a fucking number?
JAS0N Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Really? half a million the first few days? Dookie never even got to number 1, and that's the album that kick-started the rock movement we have today...Stupid Garth Brooks.
Fauxfink Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Really? half a million the first few days? Dookie never even got to number 1, and that's the album that kick-started the rock movement we have today...That's more than a little pretentious.
Guest Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 a lot of people just dont buy cds anymore, period, because its so easy to get them free on the internet.
Hermione Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Ehh, it's selling loads whatever happens. Not too fussed how well it does compared to other acts. Which is not bad anyway.I'm going to illegally download Eminem's CD tonight because he doesn't deserve my money but I'm curious as to what it was like.Haha I'm doing the same. I've been disappointed with everything he's done since about 2004 but I can't resist a listen. He's had PLENTY of my money already. That's more than a little pretentious.I'd say it was a perfectly accurate description of the album.
Mato Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Ouch, eminem killed them in the 2nd week. Those numbers aren't bad for a second week, but not nearly as good as I was hoping they'd be.Yes
Chad is Rad Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Sales should go flying after 21 Guns gets released as a single, I personally think it should have been the first single off the album. Know Your Enemy is good, but let's just face it, it shouldn't have been the first single. I think it would've done much better, even in the first week, if 21 Guns was released first. But what does it matter, they're going to get a shit ton of sales off this CD after all is said and done. Not as high of a number as I was expecting for the second week, but they're still doing pretty damn good.
check Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Some of you folks are hilarious. You complain about how you hate how after AI all the teenyboppers and non-punks/rockers were suddenly in love with Green Day and then bitch when their new album doesn't get certified Gold in the US within their first week. LOL."I hate how mainstream Green Day is--- WHAT?! Only 215,000 copies sold?! This is BULLSHIT!"
rage-love-life Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 fuck eminemYeah, fuck him From what I've heard about Relapse it's not that good.
TheBullwinkle Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Awesome, considering people (including myself) download everything these days.
