I like them both, but i think i prefer, Rob Cavallo. The new guy needs to grow on me yet, even though i love the new album loads!

Rob Cavallo. What he did on American Idiot, is a MASTERPIECE.

Butch is great, but by the sounds of Lights Out, Green Day should try to produce themselves next time for a change.

Did someone say GD produced Warning themselves?! :o

I never knew that either

Yes, Warning was self-produced. However, Rob Cavallo was credited as "Executive Producer."

Green Day also self-produced almost all of the AI and 21CBD B-sides.

I didn't like it when they moved to someone else.

That was Rob's doing though.

A producer doesn't make songs for Green Day. It's not that big deal who they are going to record the next album with, I mean, the songs are the main thing, not the producer.

Anyway, Butch made great sound to 21CB, and Rob's made great work with GD since they signed to Reprise, they both are good at what they do.

Incorrect. I've read many times that Rob had such an impact on the songs that he was considered the 4th member of Green Day in some ways. I personally think that is why Rob wasn't chosen for this album, Billie has become more and more the sole songwriter of the group, he is not as open to calibration these days. Like Tre said, he thinks Billie is John AND Paul now.

yea right, but I talked about the producer of the next album, not the old ones.

In an interview Billie said something like "we'd owe it to Rob to produce another album with him". Sadly, I was doubting this album, because the ones that were produced by Rob we're masterpieces and Warning (I don't HATE it anymore) was just bad compared to the standards of the other albums. (Off topic sorta: I don't like how Rob Cavallo had to produce The Black Parade.) So I'd like it if they booked Rob for the next album, once he's free, cause they produce amazing albums with him. I sorta agree how Butch overproduced this album, but I still love it. I think the over-producing makes this album, like it sorta sets it apart form the other ones. OR Green Day could produce with Andy Ernst (or something, I think that's his name) cause in an interview Billie said they might make anotehr album that goes back to their roots, so that would be a nice change of producers too. (Yeah the Andy guy might not want to since they became big and stuff)
