saurus Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I don't know what your talking about, so i'm going to say...no.As usual, I do agree.
Trotsky Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Good point there. That's why I hardly ever listen to the Radio. Edit:Just curious, but would you call Green Day mainstream? They're half way. I like Green Day's music either way.
RebelofSuburbia Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I really don't think a single band could 'save' rock 'n roll. There is no way you can get everyone that's into rockmusic liking a certain band.About the goalsetting, I always got the impression they set goals for themselves only. Like BJ said about writing the American Idiot album: 'we set that bar, and looked upon it and it was like; okay now we've got a mountain to climb.' I don't think they would ever want to create goals for something beyond themselves, because that would put them under a lot of pressure and frankly I don't think they believe they would actually be able to achieve anything like 'saving rock 'n roll'. They said in enough interviews how scary and nervewrecking it is/was for them to play new material from 21CB and AI.
chatnoir Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I should've preempted with, "Please ACTUALLY READ the 2 articles". (as long as they might be) I don't know, if that had helped. You have to give the spoiled and lazy folks around here a reason to read something in a link, that is longer than let's say 10 lines. Just offer cookies or claim to be hot and willing to post nudes or something.

They have stated that they can only strive to be the best band they can be. Not for anyone or anything else.I don't know, if that had helped. IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I don't think any type of music needs 'saving' nowadays. If you don't like the dross the mainstream radio/tv put out there then there's plenty of sites and blogs on the web that will point you in the direction of something more interesting. You don't have to be part of the monoply of things like commercial radio or MTV. Plus, music is subjective, a Nickelback fan (and I personally hope to God there isn't any here) could argue Green Day are part of the mainstream rubbish and Nickelback are saving rock n roll. It just depends on what you like. I love the Arctic Monkeys and can't wait for their new album, but they'll be some people on here that have never heard of them.
chatnoir Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 At least you're honest. I like that! But... I didn't want you to read those articles that badly. I actually read the articles. But then I was too lazy to reply with more than the one sentence I posted. So, there are just different levels of laziness you will have to deal with...
