Kate Austen Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Death magnetic is a great album... only plagued by a stupid productionGreen Day deserve, and when 21 guns is released as a single... omfg it will be like hell xDI think it's good. I wouldn't say great, but def great i guess in terms of Metallica in their older age. I just think it's disappointing to see an album (that IMO is much better, and shows a band much more on their A game) - sell less.It is what it is tho. No complaining I suppose. All you can do is buy the album, show your support. Rest is up to the public's hands.
Bob4775 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 lmaoooi would cry if hannah montana beat green dayseriously, i would& i actually like death magnetic. compared to their last 3 albums, it seriously kicks ass
HoneyDo666 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 YAY! This is the US chart? So excited...I hope Eminem doesn't beat them, they're so much better.
Tiffx Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 i actually thought hannah montana would have been higher, but YAY, it wasn't.now that is an achievement.
Robin105 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Holy Shit! Is that just CD sales or does it include Itunes too?
theniall Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Holy Shit! Is that just CD sales or does it include Itunes too?Download and physical sales..Looks like 221 is the final numberHAVE A GREAT DAY! Cam’ron Debuts at #3, but Political Punk-Rockers Still Top the Chart After Friday Release May 19, 2009When it comes to this week’s HITS Album Chart Breakdown, Reprise Records’ Green Day emerges at the top of the heap. With a total of 221k in sales since its release last Friday (5/15), the Bay Area punk provocateurs’ 21st Century Breakdown album debuts at #1, with more than three times the total of its nearest competitor.Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack remains at #2, with another 68k in sales, while Asylum rapper Cam’ron’s Crime Pays is the other Top 10 newcomer at #3, with 42k. JAS0N Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 221,000 isn't bad considering it was only including 4 days of sales I believe. American Idiot for the record sold 266,000 in its debut.21st Century Breakdown: sold 55,250 albums per dayAmerican Idiot: sold 38,000 albums per daySo 21CB is currently averaging over 17,000 sales per day more than AI.
theniall Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 it hasnt even been a week yet and i see people talking about Death Magnetic. That album is a big piece of shitIt's amazing right, but hits daily double are always right with their numbers..Don't ask me how lol
johnnyb Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 it hasnt even been a week yet and i see people talking about Death Magnetic. That album is a big piece of shitso, you dont like metallica y guess, i love both bands, both two of the greatest american bands of all time, metallica is huge and awesome, like their latest album, thats what i think anyway
Sharmellow Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Wow, only been 4 days and they already sold that much.
St. Jimmy of New York Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Grr Eminem is number 1 on itunes now and I assume will take over number 1 next week on the regular charts
Sharmellow Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Grr Eminem is number 1 on itunes now and I assume will take over number 1 next week on the regular charts :down:Eminem is number 1 and Green Day is currently in number 4 in the Canadian iTunes.
JAS0N Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Grr Eminem is number 1 on itunes now and I assume will take over number 1 next week on the regular charts :down:Well thats obviously not unexpected - a brand new album just released by a big name artist will obviously outsell one that was released several days ago....the biggest sales are always in the first two days for artists at the Eminem/GD level.

These are the first full length albums from both artists in 5 years. Eminem's Encore sold 5.something million in the US and American Idiot hit what? 5.something million as well. This is going to be similar to what happened in 2004 and 2005. It's basically a repeat. Now it just matters if both albums have the same amount of "likeablility" as their predecessors.
Bastard of 1967 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Grr Eminem is number 1 on itunes now and I assume will take over number 1 next week on the regular charts :down:I previewed a couple of his tracks on iTunes just for the hell of it. One thing to say: Ick.
Rob Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Like someone had said, AI sold 266 in it's first week, but also had a full week to do so. 21CB only had a few days. Pretty sweet. At least it debuts at number 1.

Used to be that you'd hear his music blasting out of every car that went by, nowadays I don't know a single person who would be considered a big fan of his. Nothing against him, his music is just the same shit though over and over and over. I liked him for a bit and I can't stand rap but I downloaded his new album and couldn't be bothered to even check it out because I just don't care anymore. I feel like Green Day are expected to do something big and thats what the world was expecting and anticipating so there has been a huge media push on this album. Eminem on the other hand seems to be more in the comeback mode like Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, etc where they are trying to regain past glory and its more of a wait and see approach where if he has a huge hit the fans will come back but if not then its mediocre sales. That said, wouldn't be surprised to see Eminem at #1 next week due to the large fan base he has gained over the years but i'd be surprised if at the end of 2009 that he sold more albums total than 21cb.
Greenday_Aussie Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Eminem's new album is shit, I stole a version (torrented actually ) its shit, this coming from someone who use to worship his music. The Eminem show is awesome, I just put it on (the first time is many many many years!).
