fashionvictim86 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Like Andres said, we can't please everyone. We just ask that you guys give this a try, and if it doesn't work out, fine. We can move it back to the way it is then.

Fuzz Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 I am not sure I have the best idea, the only thing I'm sure of is that most people on this forum voted yes on splitting GD from GC, even if temporarily. And I second Beth's opinion AND the fact that it's not the first time a GD/GC split poll was made, and every time to be split wins, and it never splits, so what's the point in still making them? Giving (most) people on this forum false hope?Damn I'm tired of this now, you all get my point of view and it will stay this way, I am just glad I put my opinion out there. But most news from GDA homepapage come from here.I make them because I'm looking for feedback and ideas. If it'd make you feel better, I could not ask for any feedback and do just whatever I wanted, because I can assure you this solution was not my initial idea. The point of the polls and bringing them up with everyone is so that I can hear from each side and make the decision that I think is best for the forum as a whole. Which is a point of view that the far majority of people voting do not take into account when voicing their opinion about how things here should be. This is the way I can get feedback and generate ideas that I would have never thought of.
Dai. Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 The thing is, Beth, that even though the majority of the forum wanted to split it, the minority had good reasons against the idea, so we had to think of something else.
Samantha Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Jeez you'd think the world was ending the way some of you are going on about this
Marie_GD Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I disagree, if anything should be split is Green Day and General and not Green Day and Green Day. I don't see the point of having made that poll since most people voted yes on splitting GD and GC. (I know you said the poll wouldn't be God, but it should be democratic, specially with such a big difference from yes to no.)But ok, like you said, you know not everyone would be happy. Instead of splitting big news and current news from smaller and older news, the most reasonable thing to do would be to split GD from GC, since both aren't the same thing, and all the GD news should stay together in a Green Day forum.Ok, now I'm being redundant, I think I've made my point.Between this and having ALL GD topics together with GC, I rather have the second. As if what we think even counts at this point Oh well..... we'll all see where this goes together. I'm sure if it's a total fiasco it will be changed back. And if it turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to GDC, I'm sure it'll stay.I make them because I'm looking for feedback and ideas. If it'd make you feel better, I could not ask for any feedback and do just whatever I wanted, because I can assure you this solution was not my initial idea. The point of the polls and bringing them up with everyone is so that I can hear from each side and make the decision that I think is best for the forum as a whole. Parley Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I think it's a reasonable plan. Basically, all the GD news will still be in General Chat initially, so everyone can see it, then it's moved to the GD news section. I don't see the big problem.I think it's worth a try. Looking in 2 forums doesn't seem that straining.
Guest Billy Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 What a democracy. Andres did you let the minority win because you want to be a part of the minority and down against the moral majority? oh, wait...
Sanah Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 want to be a part of the minority and down against the moral majorityIsn't that his favorite Green Day song?
fashionvictim86 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 What a democracy. Andres did you let the minority win because you want to be a part of the minority and down against the moral majority? oh, wait...LAME!
**nobodylikesyou** Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 The thing is, Beth, that even though the majority of the forum wanted to split it, the minority had good reasons against the idea, so we had to think of something else.good reasons being what? this should be about what is best for the members of the forum. they spoke clearly. I think it would be easier for the new members which is why I voted the way I did, I can get around the forum no matter how its set up so for myself I really dont give a shit. But I am always looking at ways things can be improved and be better for new GDC members or GDA visitors*such as mentioning 21CB lyrics should be easily accessible on GDA* mentioning changing the on the road section to include green day and put the other band stuff in their own forumand stuff like that.I still think the GD ava's, sigs, and icons should be split and a spot under GD pictures should be pinned for GD ones and all the others can stay where they are.I think on GDA the magazine articles should be in reverse order so the most current ones are at the top of the page instead of the bottom. These suggestions that I make arent to make my life easier, I know where everything is, but the new people would be able to navigate better and it would just make sense.
Guest Billy Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Isn't that his favorite Green Day song? yepp, that was the point of my joke.1.) because that's his favorite Green Day song, you couldn't tell or anything. So I was jesting at him for that.2.) because he's Mexican and that's a minority, so it was a double whammy. Just to clarify this, when I make jokes towards his ethnicity I have nothing against him. Evidence: I'm dating (and in love with) a girl of Peruvian descent.LAME!I know; the right to vote, freedom, and all that jazz are lame!Who cares about rights, pft?
fashionvictim86 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I think on GDA the magazine articles should be in reverse order so the most current ones are at the top of the page instead of the bottom.I thought of that tonight when I was adding stuff. But we're gonna make a new system anyway. It's to much of a pain in the ass for me to go through and arrange all the code manually when we're gonna make a new system anyway.I know; the right to vote, freedom, and all that jazz are lame!Who cares about rights, pft? It's a GDC, not a matter of life and death. Plus even if something is voted on the president has the power to veto.

Courtney and Andres have said they'll do something about it if it doesn't work out.
stxrlesseyes Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I think Andres did great on a compromise for everyone.
Dai. Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 What a democracy. Andres did you let the minority win because you want to be a part of the minority and down against the moral majority? oh, wait...Neither the minority nor the majority "won". We thought of something else and we're going to see if it works.
Parley Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 What a democracy. Andres did you let the minority win because you want to be a part of the minority and down against the moral majority? oh, wait...I hate to break this to you...a message board isn't a democracy.
Guest Billy Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 It's a GDC, not a matter of life and death. Plus even if something is voted on the president has the power to veto. Yet, it's the principle that matters. It doesn't matter if it's an 8th grade Student Council Election or Forum Election/Poll, whoever or whatever is voted for more deserves the right to win. I'm not trying to start an argument, because it is just a forum. I'm just saying even if I voted for splitting or not, the majority should win. These aren't electorial votes either like the US, in that case I'm still pretty sure the forum would split. It's just the idea behind it. You're overall saying those votes are all nulled and that the opinion of a dozen or so people only matter. Anyways, it wouldn't be a "president," it would be more like the ancient Roman Republic with Consuls; and you my friends, are Caligula and Nero.touche.
depardu42 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 It's a GDC, not a matter of life and death. Plus even if something is voted on the president has the power to veto. Haha. Good point.I'm quite pleased with the decision to add the news forum.
Guest Billy Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I hate to break this to you...a message board isn't a democracy.Well, obviously I know that. I don't know why we had a vote when Andres was going to decide what to do anyway. Just seems pointless, you know? Meh, it's just my opinion on the subject. It's just a forum anyways.

A message board is like a business. There are people who own it and run it. They may ask for input from their customers, but the customers don't make the final decisions--the people who run it do.Please stop the nonsense.

Dai. Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 good reasons being what? The main and most important one was that they didn't want the community to be splitted. I know you think it's the same whether GD and GC are put together or separated cause the people who care about Green Day just limit themselves to Green Day threads and the ones who don't care about GD limit themselves to non-Green Day threads, but it's not so much like that. The last time we tried splitting them both forums ended up being rather boring. It'd probably be different now with the new album, but lets give this a shot first.
