Hermione Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I love the chorus of Modern World, and I love the verses, and I love Mike's singing. Deff. one of the best songs on the album. Half the time i just listen to it to hear Mike say "Well, I don't give a shit about the modern age!" EDIT: There are tons of "ooooooo's" (if you know what they hell im talking about) in 21st CB, does Mike sing those too? They seem a little high-pitched for him.Yeah that's him. I suppose he's sung quite a lot of higher parts and harmonies over the years singing backup for Billie, he's well practiced in his oooooo's Oh and I totally agree about that line, highlight of the song!
failure00 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Well, in an interview, Billie said he would like Mike to sing more in the future.
beth hardy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 ^Probably cause they fit his voice better. christ sake..shoot me. I hate those little damn remarks and the smiley face.
longview_paradise Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I think overall, the verses Mike sings are pretty powerful. I don't know if its just because its a break from Billie Joe's voice, or because of the way he delivers it, but its just great belting of the verses. Especially the ends of his parts where he yells it fast. I'm a fan.
thisisAB Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 My friend told me that Mike sings on one of the songs on Act 3, and as soon as I heard the first word of the song i'm like WOAH! It's Mike!!! Definately awsomeness, the song totally fits his voice better, makes it so much more powerful. I also wanted to compliment Mike's harmonies throughout the album, they're really impressive. I just love it when Mike sings, I always thought his voice was amazing I also love it when Mike writes a song/lyrics, they're always so relatable. Whoever said the bassist of a band is the most boring? I'm definately super excited for their next album (yeah, 21st CB JUST came out) cause Mike's hopefully gonna write a bunch of songs, possibly acoustic, and I'd really like him to sing.
Ila Reto Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Mike comes out on the little podium and singstotal flashback to Spastic Society on Disease is Punishment and yea, i think Mike did well on this song, however maybe the song itself wasn't the best- too much of singing in one key, oddly enough the same thing happened in Nobody Likes You...i would definately like to hear him sing more though. and what's with not putting any vocal tracks with Tre on the album?
Snorri Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Yeah that's him. I suppose he's sung quite a lot of higher parts and harmonies over the years singing backup for Billie, he's well practiced in his oooooo's Oh and I totally agree about that line, highlight of the song!aren't White & Freese also singing those oooooo's ?

xVanessa86x Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I think Mike did a really great job with Modern World well his part of vocals. I have to admit that it is better than his Nobody Likes You part in Homecoming. =) I love Mike,

Mato Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 You know, I really LOVE this song. It's so epic, and reminds me on lots of things. I love the Mike siging part and choruses, and it's really special to me. Even though all of the Green Day songs are my favourites, I'd say American Eulogy is one of the songs that made the biggest impression on me.
jensername Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 i think mike singing in modern world is a big breakthrough for him. he did a fucking great job and it's probably one of my favorite parts on the album. major props for him
Chad is Rad Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 proud of mike, it made the song actually goodHey, I'll be at the show in Nashville, right along with you. I just saw that in your signature, it should be pretty fucking fun.
Bohemian+Scandal Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Mike sounds so bad ass in AE. I can't wait to see him sing it live. So far there's only a few amatuer videos of it.
jake smith Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 the best song on the album and modern world is the best part of the song
