21 Guns=WMUWSE

Well on the front cover of the CD it says 'Featuring Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns' and with all the times they are playing 21 Guns live, they are going to release it as a single, so therefore, a video is expected from it, and a damn good one at that. The song sounds like a single, and if you imagine the WMUWSE video with 21 Guns playing over it, fits kinda well. I reckon the videos may be similar, unless the director makes something different so its not like WMUWSE

Wake Me Up isn't about war, it's about Billie's father.

Indeed. He repeatedly changed the meaning as 2005 wore on. Eventually, an anti-war sentiment was adopted for the video. But the song is actually about the death of Billie Joe's father.

Neither are anti-war songs.

At least I thought so...

Edit: But yeah sorry to answer your question, I do think 21 guns will have a music video and be a single.

And I don't think the two songs are that similar to be honest.

their both different

Aside from being slow, and both being singles, I don't think they're very much a like at all. I like 21 Guns a lot more I think. And just to agree with all the other comments, Wake Me Up wasn't an anti-war song at all.

I agree with this. Their essences are alike, but they serve different purposes in the development of their respective albums and as individual songs.

But, if I were to compare them, WMUWSE is 23,000,000% better.

WMUWSE is definitely not about war

They are similiar in that they're both the tearjerker/emotional centerpiece of the album, but that's about it.

and that they will both be tourtured and torn apart by radio stations

:pinch: Let's hope they're not similar. That video was horrible.

I don't really find the songs very similar. And like many others have said WMUWSE wasn't anti-war, though the video made it seem like it was.

Most of the songs on the record have double meanings. 21 Guns could be interpreted at a personal level or a political level, it just depends how the listener relates to it.

I thought 21 Guns is more of a fucking love song more than anything else.. although it isn't too lovey dover.

Thanks to it being the next single :/

The way I saw it is a love song about two punks who have stopped fighting for anarchy. It's kinda a sad song (especially if you're a fan of anarchy  ).

Of course, WMUWSE isn't close to an anti-war song, so that'll knock two out.

IMO, 21 Guns is a much better song too.

Wake Me Up When September Ends doesn't have anything to do with war. They just did the music video like it did, for some reason. The only thing the two songs have in common for me is that they both make me want to cry for some reason.

Agreed. The WMUWSE video is the worst video they've ever done IMO.

Like others had said, WMUWSE is a memorial to Billie's father, and has nothing to do with war.

I personally prefer WMUWSE over 21 Guns.

... Wake me up when september ends:

about billies father........

21 guns:

anti-war song

Billies father dies = anti-war?

anti-war = Billies father dies?

I can't really see the similiarities between the songs but I really like both 21 Guns and WMUWSE.

I hate the video to WMUWSE, I don't know why they had to go with a war theme when they could have easily fitted the death of the lead characters father into the whole story line for AI. JOS comes from a broken home, they could have used that. I never watch the vid on MTV it put me off the song big time.

21 Guns is a great song but I'd prefer Static Age to be a single tbh. It's a great catchy rock song. Actually there are so many better songs than both KYE and 21 Guns on the album. I do wonder why those two have been chosen.

Meh.

Y'know, I was just about to say the same thing. I hated the direction on what Sam Bayer went for the video of that. Because of that misunderstanding, most people that don't know the first fucking clue about Green Day or it's members, think that song is about war and the hardships that follow when your loved ones have left you behind. I don't know why the guys didn't stop him and go; "Y'know what? We don't like the direction you're going with in this video. It's not true to what the song is actually about. People are going to mis-interpret this song quite dramtically when it's not even about the fucking war. It's about losing your family, about not knowing what to do as a child when your dad's just died of cancer." But they didn't, which was quite stupid for them to have NOT done anything about.

RHS was meant to be an option for the next single, but I think that Green Day obviously didn't think that the song fit and have decided to release 21 Guns. Don't get me wrong, I like that song, I just don't think it fits in very well with the next release. I hope they choose the next single more wisely, 'cause so far... it's not going too well. KYE wasn't that good or strong as a first single, and I'm going to admit that I don't like it all that much. One of the reasons that I liked it was because it was the first thing they had released in over 5 years, but I was a little let down of the repeatitiveness of it all, kinda reminded me of Blink 182 with all their 'Na na na's.'

It would only be ironic if Billie died in september.....wait i didn't just say that xD....anywho!

Nova-Caine: yeah there are other great songs off the album. My favorite so far is 21CB. Its a great intro, i luv it.
