Andrick Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 hmm like see the light and 21st century breakdown begin the same
death_has_a_shadow Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 i'm not sure if this was brought up.. but speaking of stuff sounding alike...did anyone notice that the guitar solo in 21 guns is the EXACT same thing as the beginning of the "Full House" theme song?! i love the song but man that made me fuckin laugh my head offOh shit! You're right. It does sound a bit like the Full House theme song.
AndrewSon Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Oh shit! You're right. It does sound a bit like the Full House theme song. GREEN DAY AND FULL HOUSE MIXED TOGETHER!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdTUweff3cI
zackattack Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 you guyz sound like a bunch of whiners and babies over this. Who fucking cares. They made one of the best records of their career and your bashing them for sounding like themselves.and in static age, if you sing "if i promise go to church on sunday" when billie sings "i cant see a thing in the video" no real big similarity.nd Viva la gloria? and misery as songs are very much different. only the feel to the song is the same
Doug Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 after the last line in the static age tre does a drum breakdown that sounds just like the start of 27th ave shuffle.
Eldoon Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I KNEW the solo of 21 Guns sounded like the Full House theme song!! Hahah I've been singing "everywhere you look!" over it since the radio leak of it two Mondays ago.
Clayish Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 My friend thinks the drums in the beginning of static age sound like "Down with the sickness"
*Jade_Green_Day* Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 you guyz sound like a bunch of whiners and babies over this. It's not a bad thing.
Jack96 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I'm not sure that's what I'm thinking of but you're probably right P.S. Wow, I was just listening to American Eulogy and at 3:12, it sounds EXACTLY like 0:36 of Christian's Inferno !!! EXACTLY !!!Yer its just how BJ sings
novacaine_kid Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Im only too glad that they rip themselves off instead of a ton of other bands.
*Jade_Green_Day* Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Wow yeah you're right, I just heard the Barton Fink voice...awesome!And another similarity...the start of The Last of the American Girls sounds a bit like the start of Muse's Starlight. Finally got the album today, been on non-stop. LOVING IT!
Juju Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Baba O'Riley, you meanno. i know what i said. i meant Teenage Wasteland. i've never heard Baba O'Riley.
Alan86 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 The intro drums on Murder City remind me of the Intro drums to a Nirvana song. Cant think of which song it is now, it might be "Breed" on Nevermind
*Jade_Green_Day* Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I like the fact there's a hint of 2000 Light Years Away in American Eulogy. They really have incorporated the old and the new. It's great.
Fauxfink Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 What is with so many songs on 21CBD sounding like other Green Day songs?Because you touch yourself at night.
burnout_13 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 The drum intro to Know Your Enemy sounds exactly like the intro to I Am The Resurrection by Stone Roses. Apologies if someone already pointed this out; I didn't bother to read through the whole thread.
Hermione Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 All bands have songs that sound like other songs, and of course they're more likely to have similarities to their own stuff than anything else. Everyone has their own style so sometimes the same sounds and words can pop up, it's natural. Green Day have had songs that sound like their earlier work in places before so it's nothing new. Yeah a song might have similar chords, or have the same melody for a few seconds or something, and it might be entertaining to look out for stuff like that for fun - but it doesn't matter. What matters is the whole song - how it sounds and how it makes you feel when you're listening to it.I like the fact there's a hint of 2000 Light Years Away in American Eulogy. They really have incorporated the old and the new. It's great.I like it too, it makes me smile to hear little references like that
Peel Slowly And See Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 no. i know what i said. i meant Teenage Wasteland. i've never heard Baba O'Riley. While there was a song written called Teenage Wasteland, it was never actually performed by The Who. I have a Pete Townshend demo version, but I highly doubt that you would own that if you have reportedly "never heard Baba O'Riley."This is obviously a case of somebody accidentally referring to Baba O'Riley as Teenage Wasteland. It's a mistake I made, too. Don't worry about it.If you're referring to the song with the running synth at the beginning, followed by the piano progression, followed by the drums and first verse until we hear the guitar, then that's Baba O'Riley. You know, the song runs, then repeats the words "teenage wasteland" before ending with a violin backing a burst of the instruments. If you want to find the song Teenage Wasteland, you'll need to torrent a copy of Pete Townshend's Lifehouse Chronicles, which is actually hard to find. I needed to download it with a Townshend discography.
toaster_poodle Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 The Full House thing is hilarious. I never would have noticed it but now that you guys mention it it's pretty damn funny
Alan86 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 The druming in the song 21st century Breakdown at the transition from the first part in to the celtic punk part is very like longview. This was more noticable on the 21stCB demo
Chad is Rad Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I didn't see any of the similarities that you pointed out...
Peel Slowly And See Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 you guyz sound like a bunch of whiners and babies over this. Who fucking cares. They made one of the best records of their career and your bashing them for sounding like themselves.I'm praising 'em for it.
Snorri Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Because you touch yourself at night. No, this is what happens when you touch yourself:
