petrina_678 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 i still dont understand why people hate him! and on top if that i didnt even know or think that people would hate him. seems so bizarre to me
Peter. Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I don't see why people would hate Jason, he's just helping out.
The Disappearing Boy Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 honestly jason looks like a nice guy. why should anyone hate him? what has he done? jeez guys he's just a touring guitarist, nothing more. He does not have any input on the album. He's there on tours because the band needs him , like a vocalist needs back-up vocals because no-one can sing two parts at one time live, same thing here. Billie cant play both parts like on the album, so he has jason to help him out. NO BIG DEAL! Do you see people hating backup vocalists? i think not. so stop hating jason, honestly ,he's a good musician in his own right. Without him the live shows would lack the 2nd guitar part and billie wont be able to perform like he does now knowing that jason is playing .you speak truth.people seem to be forgetting that jason has been part of the band for 10 years now, and has known them for much longer. he is as much a part of the band as anyone else.
Katarina. Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 What's up with the Jason hate? Lol. He really looks like a nice person to me!I thought he was a touring guitarist, to help Billie out. So Billie could jump and do crazy things
Ally Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Yeah i noticed that on the album to, then remembered he was just a touring guitarist
Mrs.Kerplunk Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I don't like the people who says that Jason is a better guitar player then Billie. Cuz Jason can't play so much of the old (1039 smoothed/kerplunk) songs..and now he's just playing what Billie wrote...but I don't hate him. he seems like a nice guy & he just heelping out - live ^^
novacaine_kid Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 JW is a very useful member of the extended green day family. He gives the band more depth during live shows and as was mentioned earlier, billie plays power chords so he can focus on his voice. I don't know if anyone has tried playing complex guitar sections while singing but its not the easiest thing in the world to do.
Eirik Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 ^Jason mainly just plays power chords as well. I think it's more about filling out the sound, rather than Jason's parts being to complex for Billie.
GreenDayaremyGods Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Yeah, I'm pretty sure Hason White just does the melodic guitar parts on tour becasue Billie can't do both live.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I just wish Billie-Joe would play the solos live, rather than strum power chords and raise his guitar in the air. That's not impressive really. I love his showmanship and everything but guitar solos are a great chance to show off, I just think he should do more of them, he doesn't do them from the newer albums. Although I pointed this out to my brother as we were watching Live At Abbey Road on Thursday, and he almost immediately on cue switched and did the second half of a solo, I can't remember what song it was it might have been East Jesus Nowhere.
.Brian Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I always preferred Green Day without Jason White, no offense to the man.same here.
Muttweed182 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I like Jason he's a nice guy..... He's just a touring guitarist guys. He makes the live shows more mind blowing.
Hermione Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Jason White's one cool guy. He's an asset to Green Day as a really good second guitarist, he's freed Billie up to be an even better showman and made them even more powerful live. I love how Green Day and their backing musicians are friends like that, some bands would just hire session musicians. He's also an amazing songwriter/singer in his other bands, I love his stuff. He doesn't take away from the energy between the three members of Green Day whatsoever, he just allows them to put on an even better show. I like him
Juan Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 He might be of equal talent to Steve Vai then.Wait no, he still wouldn't.but Steve doesn't have the melodic qualities to make GOOD songs
MusicalDeviant Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Is he ever? I always thought like Juan said that he only toured with them. Billie is still essentially the guitarist and would do all the guitars for the album. Jason Freese is probably only on it because Billie just learned to play the piano so maybe there were some things he couldn't or didn't want to play. Also, because he's awesome. And hot to boot. But something tells me that Billie joe consults with JF when using instruments JF is more accustomed to using.
Kerplunker Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I like this guy! He is just so cool. I don't understand how people can hate him. <33It would be nice, if he would become a real member of Green Day. But I think it's to late for now.JASON I LOVE YOU!
dirnt286 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 As a huge Influents fan, and semi-fan of The Big Cats, I get a kick out of seeing Jason play and sing some back ups with Green Day. If he was replaced or decided to leave... yeah, I'd be disappointed.
DisappearingBoy95 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Jason's my boy. Its not like he takes away from Green Day at all, he is the most unobtrusive person they could have got to play second guitar.
Eirik Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Although I pointed this out to my brother as we were watching Live At Abbey Road on Thursday, and he almost immediately on cue switched and did the second half of a solo, I can't remember what song it was it might have been East Jesus Nowhere.Know Your Enemy, I like how he played it differently from the way it is on the record.
Guest Brian Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 As a huge Influents fan, and semi-fan of The Big Cats, I get a kick out of seeing Jason play and sing some back ups with Green Day. If he was replaced or decided to leave... yeah, I'd be disappointed.I agree. Jason is a great guitarist and singer in his own right. I think he works well with the band live, and without him a lot of the newer material wouldn't sound the same on the road. BTW, for those interested in hearing more of Jason... check out http://www.theinfluents.netThe band broke up several years ago, but they put their two albums up for free download on the site!!!
NGDP Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I hate how people think that Billie sucks. They only think that because they think Jason White plays the solos in the studios too.
Anja Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 someone who has an undying affection for Warning or American Idiot.I do but I still like him very much Although I gotta say, I would never "accept" him as a fourth member or so cause GD are only BJ, Tré and Mike to me <3
belindatest Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Oh believe me Andres, you and I could record those tracks.Billie Joe has no problem recording the tracks, they just make it sound nice with two guitars. It's physically impossible for him to play them twice, so obviously he needs help. I mean, unless Billie learns how to simultaneously play guitar with his feet and play with his hands, while singing. Now that would be a spectacle. That's something for the next album =P
