IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I think some people had a problem accepting why we were waiting for some unknown reason.Well anyway it was worth the wait to say the least! I lost my virginity in my bedroom while eating chocolate orange cheesecake I think a few people thought we were being smug and a bit holier than thou. Why they couldn't just stay out if they didn't like it is a mystery. Definitely worth the wait ! The booklet was a bit rubbish though.
Hermione Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 ^Aye . I was quite pleased with the booklet as I thought the lyrics would be written the same as on the website (ie. really hard to read!), but they're different and easy to read. And I love the picture on the back.Oh yeah to answer the question posed by the thread. I got the bus to Tescos (the only place anywhere near me I could get it) and OH NO - there were 21st CB posters up but none of the CDs on the shelf . So I asked if they had it and they didn't know, so I had to queue for what seemed like ages at the customer service desk, then THEY didn't know and had to ask two other people. I was panicking at this point . But they just hadn't put it out yet so I got it, hooray! Then I went across town and took a copy to my sister and spent a few hours with her and my nephew. Then I went home and listened to it . I'm in shock or something, I just love it.
Rae'n'shine Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I bought my copy today right when Best Buy opened. I got the booklet with the CD inside it. The "geek squad" were completely oblivious as to what 21st Century Breakdown was. I took them forever to find it in the backroom. But I eventually got it in my hands! It is even more amazing now that it's at home and on my iPod!And how awesome is Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl)!!!
SlappyDJ1 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 can someone pc me if they have the itunes bonus tracks?

KeRpLuNkXxX Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 All right, so I went to buy it early in the morning and I just have finished listening to it like for the third time. All I have to say is that I love it. I knew it was going to be great but I went completly nuts with it. There were a bunch of people on the store with GD t-shirts waiting to get their copy. IT WAS AMAAZING!

Billie's voice is so evil in that song...it makes me tingle all over i know! i luv it... but the booklet has the cd in side, not in a individual case, so i got an old case for one of my burned cds, threw the cd out in it out, put 21 cb in, and printed out the cover art so it looks a little like i have the cd too.

I finally got my package slip but I have to wait until 6:30 to actually get the CD.BOGUS. Kaddi. Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Don't know if anyone's interested, but here's my review.Song Of The CenturyNot much to say about it musically as there isn't much music. The lyrics are awesome, I loved them from the first read on. Usually, I don't like Intro songs on albums, because they're unnecessary, but this one is good and it makes sense to have an intro for an album like this.21st Century BreakdownI'm one of those who listened to the demo version and in the beginning I didn't like the final version, but after I listening to it for some times, it grew on me and now I like it even better than the demo. The middle is still my favorite part, but the end is way better than the one of the demo version. As 21st CB was the song I was looking forward to most of all, I must say I'm not disappointed but it's totally different from what I expected and I listened to the demo too often, so I gotta take a break to be able to love it again.Know Your EnemyIn the beginning, I liked it, but it became a little annoying. It's catchy, yes... but it's also totally repetitive and that makes me skip it every time I listen to the album. For me it's probably the worst song on 21st CB.[i]¡Viva La Gloria! The slow beginning is really nice, I like the melody. The rest of the song is nice too, but I somehow don't like the name Gloria, so this "Gloooooriaaaaaa" kinda ruins the song for me. Well, no not really ruin... but it would be better without it, but that's only my personal problem because of the name. Exept that, it's a cool song. Before The LobotomyI don't know why, but this slow beginning doesn't seem to be right for this song. I love the middle though, especially the "Like refugeeeees, we're lost like refuges" is one of my favorite parts. The end is great, because it repeats the beginning in a way that fits to the middle part.Christian's InfernoIt's a song that fits perfectly to the rest of the album, but isn't that great on its own. Maybe it's a little bit like "Extraordinary Girl" although I think EG is still better than CI.Last Night On EarthAlso one of the songs I was really looking forward to. The lyrics are so full of love that they might be cheesy, but they're not because it's Green Day. LNOE is just a very beautiful song and there's nothing more to say about it.East Jesus NowhereI didn't like it too much in the beginning, because it's very Nimrod-like and Nimrod is one of my least favorite GD albums. But the song grew on me and now I can appreciate why so many people said that it's a great song, it really is. The chorus, the verses, the bridge everything's just perfect. Awesome song.PeacemakerDefinitely one of my favorites. It's like Misery with a Spanish flair and something dangerous in it. Totally thrilling. I also like the "hey hey's", because they make me sing along every time. And the rolled "r" in the end is pretty cool.Last Of The American GirlsGreat song, great melody. I think you can cleary hear some Beatles influence in it. Well, I don't know what else to say about it, it's just awesome and one of my favorites.Murder CityFirst of all, I still think it should have been called "Desperate", but well... I have listened to the live version for about 3 weeks and I loved it from the beginning on. It's just a perfect song, because the lyrics, the singing and the music fit together so well. The music expresses what the lyrics say. I love the solo and I can't say if I prefer the live version or the one on the record as they're both great.¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl)I like it better than the other Viva La Gloria. This "Little girl, little girl..." is really nice and again there's something Spanish and dangerous in it, but also something desperate mixed with hope though. Maybe I'm interpreting too much, but this is just what I think.Restless Heart SyndromeA song that has to grow on me first. For me, it's a little bit like Whatsername, because I didn't like that too much in the beginning either, but later it became one of my favorite songs and it still is. I already love the faster part in the end though, it's almost like Heavy Metal and a great contrast to the ballad-like beginning. When Billie starts to sing again after the solo, it's easy to imagine this song being played in a huge stadium in front of thousands of people.Horseshoes and HandgrenadesAggressive, but still melodic. The singing reminds me a little bit of Platypus. Not one of my favorites, but a good song and perfect if you're angry. The Static AgeI was totally surprised when I listened to it for the first time, because I didn't expect much for some weird reason. Well, it was a good surprise as it's a great song with a very cool melody. Also one of my favorites."I can't see a thing in the video, I can't hear a sound on the radio, in stereo in the static age..." awesome.21 GunsWhen I listened to it for the first time, it made me cry, because it's so beautiful. A few months ago when we only knew the song titles, I expected 21 Guns to be powerful, angry anti-war song or something like that. It's totally different, but maybe even more awesome. I'm totally in love with the "guuuns" in the chorus and in my opinion it's one of Billie's best singing accomplishments ever. The solo is like a dark and desperate version of the "Full House" theme song.Just epic.American EulogyI won't split this up into two parts, because I think I can judge them together. The beginning is pretty similar to the intro, but it's a great idea to pick that up again. Well, I like the verses of both parts, but I think the choruses are pretty annoying, because it's only "Mass hysteria, mass hysteria, mass hysteria..." and "I don't wanna live in the modern world, I don't wanna live in the modern world...". I prefer Billie singing, but it's a nice alternation to hear Mike sing this part.Despite the repetitive chorus a great song.See The LightA perfect ending, because it kinda sums up the whole album and gives a positive perspective although the album is really serious and often depressive.I'm totally in love with the melody and the chorus and yes, this is also one of my favorites.Overall conclusion21st Century Breakdown is an awesome album and a worthy follower of American Idiot. Waiting for almost 5 years was definitely worth it. And because I feel like I didn't mention it often enough: The lyrics are simply awesome.
KeRpLuNkXxX Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 The artwork in the booklet is AMAZING!! And of course the CD is too. Billie's voice is so evil in that song...it makes me tingle all over I AGREE!!! I love the scream in Horseshoes and Handgrenades when he goes "the age-old contradiction". It gives me goosebumps
chickin'pickin' Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Downloaded it last week.I'm still in my warming period of the album. It doesn't hit you immediately, I reckon.
GreenDayGummyBear Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 ...i luuuuuve murder city... im so glad billie squeezed it onto the album.
Line Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 The only part of a 21st CB song that has actually made me cry is in Murder City when the sing, well "in the murder city" with those screams in the background, it's just too perfect. love it!
