Parley Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Personally, I'm happy to get the album at the cheapest price possible, no matter how great it is. Green Day are millionaires many times over and will be making many more millions over the course of the next couple of years. I have no worries or guilt whatsoever over saving some money on their album. And I freely download anything I want with a clear and happy conscience.
chewychorizo Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Yeah you're weird. But i can sort of understand what your saying... but then again, i would gladly pay £9.99
fashionvictim86 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Nah...I ordered preordered the edition with the vinyls. Plus tomorrow there's like 3 copies I'm planning on picking up. Plus I'm taking an unpaid day off work. Man, I always do this with Green Day's new albums....well except Warning, I was working. But I had a friend pick up a few copies and bring them over to me at work. Don't feel bad, I feel like an asshole buying both the hard copy and the digital. I'd like to say it's to support CD's (which are essentially obsolete now) but I just want all the extra shit I can get my hands on.Off topic, your sig is fucking awesome.
iLozza! Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 £9.99 is a lot of money me thinks, but then again, I am broke. If you wanna pay more, buy the special edition?
chickin'pickin' Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 That's ridiculous. £9.99 is too much for a CD.
Agija Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I think the CD will be much more expensive here, it'll definitely cost about £15. I'll buy it even if it cost more, but wanting to pay more than the actual price is a bit weird.
she* Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I think £9.99 is about average. I'm going to buy the special edition, but i definately want to pay less than £18 but its worth it!
Femme Gauche Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Well actually it doesn't bother me that they're so cheap because it costs so little ot make them. It's great that the market is finally being more competitive... but I do like to buy the albums rather than just download. I'll download but that's a quick fix if I want to listen to it and can't find/don't have the money/etc.
Hitman Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 You're putting money on too high of a pedestal. If Green Day are the artists they claim to be, moving you with their music is payment enough.
dookiehead Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 You clearly have too much money, and either no conscience or no understanding of the music industry. When you buy a band's album, you're not doing anything to help that band. Instead of lining the pockets of hundreds of worthless scumbags at Warner, go and give some cash to charity.
Haushinkaholic Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 You clearly have too much money, and either no conscience or no understanding of the music industry. When you buy a band's album, you're not doing anything to help that band. Instead of lining the pockets of hundreds of worthless scumbags at Warner, go and give some cash to charity. Not true, I'm well aware of the bullshit that goes on at an executive level in record companies, and I consider myself to be an incredibly conscientious person. I already donate a sizeable amount of my monthly wage to various charities and what I do with the rest is my own concern. I certainly don't have too much.I've just been used to paying £15 for Green Day albums for years.Plus, what people fail to remember is that money that comes from Album sales also goes into the signing and promoting of new bands trying to make a living as musicians.I've never had a problem with people exclusively downloading or filesharing the work of established artists. When it comes to the work of artists lower down the pecking order who can't afford the losses I think it's actually a very inconsiderate and borderline immoral thing to do.Read the lyrics to the Reuben song "Return Of The Jedi" and you'll understand my stance on the matter. They were a band who were on an indie label, signed to sony and ended up leaving sony to produce a third album on their own label "hideous records" They split up late last year and a large part of the reason was due to how hard it was to maintain a livelihood managing everything themselves and with very little media coverage.I miss them so much it's unreal.
dallasthemenace Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 if you really are into giving your money to the BAND, rather than the machine, buy a ticket to the show and buy from the merch booth while youre there...thats the most effective way....
Haushinkaholic Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Already bought two tickets I know that's where a band makes their money.
Trotsky Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I mostly just download. I'll go see Green Day in August but for the sake of going to a show for my own pleasure, not for some 'duty' I have to support music I like. But I feel justified in downloading because the bands without money rarely complain and millionaire bands always complain.
Hermione Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Their ticket prices, while still reasonable, have gone up way over inflation this time around. So don't feel bad!Green Day themselves clearly aren't in it for the money and I'm sure they'd be more than satisfied with you paying 9.99. And anyway, that's more expensive than it would be if you buying it in the States. Green Day don't need any more of your money, you're already doing the decent thing by paying what they're asking. Imagine how shitty it would be if those who are less well off couldn't afford the simple pleasure of buying a CD by their favourite band. The lower the price gets the better.
Sunshine2385 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 It sucks being poor and not being able to support your own rent, much less paying a lot of $ for a band's album Downloading isn't a bad thing like everyone thinks.
fashionvictim86 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 This thread is pissing me off. I'm thisclose to closing it.
GreenDayrocks!!!! Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 OH MY GOD! I was thinking the exact same thing. I remember when CDs were like 25 bucks, now they're like 10. I would be willing to pay 50 bucks just to get my hands on this CD. And I would be happy with that because that's that much more money going towards my favorite band. I am also the type of person who likes to buy the CDs instead of downloading it. I like to actually have the thing in my hands and look at the CD booklet and the art on the front and back and even the art on the CD itself. I just think CDs are the way to go. Besides, if you want a digital copy you can always rip it onto your computer.
shoegazeloser Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I preordered already, but I'd rather not pay a penny to those greedy bastards at Warner Music Group.
Haydée Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 yes, you are a weird. This thread is pissing me off. I'm thisclose to closing it.listen to your heaaaaaaaaaart.

ImnotaDrIjustPlayOneOnTV Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 they gave you a mod job? they must have been hard up Everyone know's you're a mean ass. I need to try and figure out how to create a 25 hour day so I can get on for an hour. Sorry off topic, won't spam again. Buy two, and send me the extra copy. I won't complain
