You know whats real annoying, this whole fucking "Worship Bob Dylan" thing. Whats the hype about? Is he Jesus reincarnated or something?

Not Bob Dylan worship exactly. In my opinion BD has a very distinct sound and a large, well known back catalogue. If you are going to re-create one of his songs you have a tough job on your hands to make it good.

I would say a cover song is rarely as good as the original. Some bands may do a blatent copy, no better than karaoke and others might try something so far fetched that it is too far from the artists intended work.

How many Green Day covers have you heard that you have actually liked? Avril Lavigne's attempt maybe?

Anyway. Whatever. I'm hungry, time for dinner.

i could have swore that i saw that green day had recorded a cover of ever fallen in love by the buzzcocks, and it was to be released among the 21cb bonus stuff, but now i cant find mention of it anywhere, not here, not itunes...nothin.....

i know i smoke a lot of pot...but damn....i dont think im imagining things....

The Dylan cover clip sounds good so far....just a tad forced but I think they nailed if not surpassed the guitars. "My, Billie Joe, what a big sound you have...." :) I also like their cover of The Clash's "I Fought The Law" as well as the more recent cover of John Lennon's "Working Class Hero." I hate to say it here (and I'll probably get hung out to dry for it) but I think both of these are actually better than the originals.

This cover of That's Alright (It isn't actually by Elvis Presley, you guys) is weak. Far, far, far inferior to Rod Stewart's version.

I also like their cover of The Clash's "I Fought The Law" as well as the more recent cover of John Lennon's "Working Class Hero." I hate to say it here (and I'll probably get hung out to dry for it) but I think both of these are actually better than the originals.

I did. I have heard it before. Many times. It is good. Great even. Perhaps brilliant. Not as good as the original though. In my opinion.

That's all well and good, but you said that no one should ever cover them.

Even if no one tops the original, I think it's important for different artists to interpret different songs.

I think you missed my humour (or evidently attempt at humour) with my first comment about making Bob Dylan covers, although mostly this is true for me and still stands with the JH cover of ...Watchtower. However your opinion is valid and important and if its different to mine, well so be it.

It's just cool for a band to see how they can put their style in a cover. Or they do it just to have fun. Cover songs are o.k with me. It's cool seeing how that song today sounds with a more modern band.

Just listened to the "That's Alright" cover and wow...It is gorgeous, from what I've heard.

I really, really love the Dylan and Social D covers too :]

Can't wait to hear their who cover also!!

Maaaan I didn't pre-order it though....

Yes but that's magic. The band does it for fun because obviously they love the song or else they wouldn't cover it. They don't go in there thinking "ALRIGHT TIME TO COVER LIKE A ROLLING STONE LET'S PUT BOB DYLAN TO SHAME!!!!". It's just a fun thing to do to get the creative juices flowing on through the album process.

Aw :/ I hope it grows on you...

I love it. Its my favorite out of the 4 covers..

But yeah, if it is one of your favorite songs - its probably quite hard to get used to a different version.

I was like woah, when I heard they were going to record it...i thought it could turn out a little...hmmm I don't know how to put it :lol:

but anyways yeah, thankfully I love it.
