amy_runs Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I'm glad these are studio versions and not live versions. But yeah, "A Quick One" is what I'm looking forward to the most.I cannot wait for that song! It's going to be fantastic! This one sounded pretty good too
Hellcat Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 clueless kids posting in this topic.i liked the cover. and i think the fact that it sounds like social d espicially billies vocals sounding a lot like mikes is a good thing shows that he has vocal ability and range.like we all know he can sing. but his vocals being so close to mikes but at the same time still having his signature feel through out is a real good thing that shows how talented he is.and for those writing of social d, you probably should check them out aswell as other punk bands before you go making useless asumptions that they are crap etc.

They're okay, I just never got into them. I dunno why, but they're not bad by any means. I listen to them on occasion.Butttt anyway, Billie Joe does have an amazing range. His voice seems to have gotten higher as he's gotten older. weird.
iamtheju Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I like most Green Day covers I hear but this cover sounds like crap. Eye Of The Tiger ftw!I hope at least one of the others is good. but tbh, it's all made up for by the brilliance of every song on 21CB
Muttweed182 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 What you talking about guys that sounded pretty cool.
Tiffx Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 It sounds like their old stuff.I mean I know it's a cover, but the way they made it sounds reminds me of an Insomniac-Dookie era sound.Yeah I think so too.
Another Urchin Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 It's only a small preview, but it sounds like the original is still better (which is OK, Social Distortion is a great band).
peepee Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 This is horrible. Also a bad choice of cover. SD have written some amazing tunes and this one is not one of them.
Ingrid Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Looking forward to hearing the whole thing, and the three other cover songs
deathtofalsesushi Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Like a Rolling Stone is up on the myspace now
Ingrid Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ^ Yeah, I just heard it. Not really liking the sound of that one at the moment... :/
Peel Slowly And See Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I'm really digging the version of Like A Rolling Stone. However, the best cover of Like A Rolling Stone is when Bob Dylan performed it in 1974 on Before The Flood. You just knew it wasn't the original. Best live performance ever, in my opinion.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQKrSwgiMkA
SetOnOverdrive Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Its up on the myspace.I'm loving it. I was really excited for this one and the Elvis one =]http://www.myspace.com/greenday
Peel Slowly And See Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I can't imagine that the version of That's Alright will top the one by Rod Stewart.
SetOnOverdrive Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I can't imagine that the version of That's Alright will top the one by Rod Stewart.Did he do it? I quite like the Eric Clapton version when he done it live for a bit =]
farley drexel hatcher Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I'm gonna merge this with the other b side's thread, thanks for the heads up
dallasthemenace Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 im not really into it. yet anyway...but i was never big on this sound anyway....i predict that the twat(s) from oasis run their mouths somemore about green day after this gets out....
TheBullwinkle Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I would've rather heard more outtakes from the album instead of covers, but whatever. :/
Ingrid Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ^ I wouldn't, actually. Aargh, I just want full versions of all four songs... This 30 seconds preview thing is kind of evil. I keep listening to the Rolling Stone one not really paying attention, and everytime I forget that it's only 30 seconds of it; so I'm waiting for Billie Joe to sing 'kiddin' YOUU', and then it cuts off! haha
