f.o.d_nimrod Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hey thanks for posting this!! It gave a lot of insight to what someone of years of musical experience might think. I really really like how writes and like how he gives an honest opinion on everything, even on bands that he considers very good friends. He's not scared to hurt people feelings. As he's known Green Day basically from day 1 and is a huge fan of theirs, I would be willing to trust his opinion of the new album more than critics, or people who have listened to 21st Century Breakdown early. I read some of the things that people had said on the link he had on one of the recent blogs, and some of them were not nice. Not nice at all. Very critical of the new album. A lot of the people were expecting something along the lines of an American Idiot II. Reading them is making me a little weary of listening to the album when I pick it up on friday In my opinion, I don't know if they can ever have a bigger album than American Idiot was. In order to have the same success with an album as much as they had with American Idiot, they had to make their music grow, and grow as a band. I don't think it was intentional, because if you see recent interviews, they say they've just grown as a band. I truly believe that, but at the same time I think they've grown with ever new album they make. At the same time though I'm still excited to see what it sounds like. From all (good) accounts I've heard that it's very different, yet the same as any of their older stuff. Including American Idiot, which in reality is not old at all. I guess i'll just have to make my own opinions about it when I listen to it!
