hmmm.. i know Floyd's sound. i have Billies signature LP Jr. i could porlly tell what billies playing if i was blind folded.

and all i'm hearing on the new album is Floyd. Except for maybe Before The Lobotmy, and a couple others. but i rememebr an interview where Billie said "when i first played a LP Jr. i thought "this is the sound i have been searching for!" so if he has found the sound he'd been looking for idk why he would still use blue alot.

Your guitar wouldnt sound anything like Floyd. Floyd is a vintage Junior made from Old Growth wood, and has a Brazillian Fretboard, also, not a crappy H90 pickup (that would be the first thing I would change if I got a BJ Junior). P90 pickups from the 50's sound nothing like todays. No Gibson sounds the same, especially vintage vs modern.

I think he used Blue during Murder City?

Couldnt be, Murder City is in E Standard.

I wasn't too sure too sure.

Friday's show was a bit of a blur.

I know that. I'm saying for songs like Basket Case, he can just play them normal tuning and just one fret lower. He's not playing any open chords so it won't change anything.

If you tune down a half step, the chords will sound fatter. It doesn't matter which chords, but they'll always sound fatter.

I realized that too !!!!!!

Actually, they've been playing that a half-step down a couple of times now.

Really? Any videos. Ive found alot of the E standard songs sound better in Eb. Just look up Scattered in Brisbane. I'll be playing it in that key from now on :)

he's using the original for live shows again. I've done my research.

I Think that He's using blue for older songs( sorry if other people said this before me) :D

who the fuck is against Eb???

I like Eb

the real blue is that knocked around its too fragile to play live and take on tour.

he gave it to his son.

I know what you are trying to say, but you are just judging by Green day's "sound"

believe it or not for almost the whole sessions for 21stCB he used a telecaster, Slash's Les Paul signature and Floyd (of course) were used too.

too fragile????

a big music figure like BJ doesn't know about professional, EXPENSIVE repairing?

So I wasn't hallucinating when I thought he was playing Blue during Murder City?

A good way to tell if it's Blue or not is looking at the color alone. Blue is a light blue color, obviously, BUT it didn't used to be quite as light colored. Now, you can see the fading on the body, which has almost faded from blue to a greenish in the more faded spots. At the Hartford show, he clearly used Blue. Looking closely, you could see the chips, the cracks, the beat up fret boards and the fading, and discolorment among other things. Things that only a couple of years' usage wouldn't do to a guitar. If you watch videos from Nimrod, every Blue copy was a slightly different shade of the same color, and had a pearl mixed with the paint-job, which gave them different sparkles. If you watch the full Bottom of the Hill concert from 97/98, you can compare the different shades of blue each copy had.

nobody knows any more

BUT BILLIE..DUN DUN DUN!!

but just looks at the tuning heads on the sweet children era and now

Well I hope he uses it when he can. I wouldn't complain.

same here. if he plays the original blue at times during the tour that would be really rad.

Hmm

Can anyone tell if this pic is a replica or the original ?

to me i think its a replica because the tuning head is more cleaner and sharper than the orignal blue

that's the original. you can tell it's been re-fretted. none of the copies of blue had all the same stickers. the eight ball sticker is usually a good way to tell the original. also the pick guard is really yellow but between his neck and middle pickup is a white area where he had a sticker originally.

I thought it was tape on Blue. :o

Isn't this Blue?

To this original/replica Blue discussion, Bill Schneider said back in 00/01 that the fretboard on Blue was totally ruined and they could barely put on new frets, so if he is using the original Blue, he must've spent quite some money.

yep the first time he played it (Houston TX) he used Blue. and every single time since.

He's actually gone back to standard lately. :o
