davegrohllover Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Green Day please lighten up? What the? Where does he even come up with that. There the most easy going guys. And they were never not funny. Has he even looked up there names on youtube? Almost every interview is filled with comedy
HoneyDo666 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I don't mind the guyliner. I mean..sometimes I think it's a bit silly someone of their age is wearing it. At the same time, they look REALLY good. Actors use it for certain looks, so why can't they..I think nobody looks better in guyliner! They really look gorgeous with it and they have the talent to pull it off!
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 yeah, guyliner can die. i think they have cooled it off for this tour, haven't they?
valentinesandcigs Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Anyone that says Green day should lighten up needs to see there live show thats all i need to say.they have so much fucking fun!

Rosie May Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Their music suits their age I think. It would be a bit patheic if they still wrote about the same kind of thing that they did in their 20's. I mean look at Bowling For Soup, their just pretty sad at this point, their in their 30's (probably) and their still singing about weiners. And like others have said, green day have got balance. Their music is more serious now but they still have lots of fun on stage and in interviews.
Hermione Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 yeah, guyliner can die. i think they have cooled it off for this tour, haven't they?Nope, the guyliner is still in full effectI'm glad they do what they want and wear it when they feel like it, the fact that it annoys people is the best thing about them wearing it in my book Hmm. Green Day have always taken making music seriously and written it thoughtfully, but have never taken themselves too seriously so they've always brought a lot of fun to the table too. I think they still have that mix of seriousness and humour down to a t. Humour takes a smaller role in the songs but it's still there, it's just more subtle. Just take one look at their live shows and it's clear they don't need to lighten up!It's annoying how music critics often scoff at them for being silly on stage when they've made an album with serious themes, or vice versa criticize them for being too ambitious/serious with their music when they "should" just be a fun, dumb band. I don't know why having fun and being serious have to be mutually exclusive, as if having a laugh on stage somehow makes their "serious" music less worthy. I think being able to make ambitious music while still having a sense of fun is something to be admired, not criticized.
Guest Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 please, cmon let green day do whatever the F*** they want.

Tiffx Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 i wish guyliner would go die for one.Same. I don't like it at all. yeah, guyliner can die. i think they have cooled it off for this tour, haven't they?No they haven't lol. Also, someone should tell MCR to lighten the fuck up.

dallasthemenace Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 we all know this guy is a complete twat in everyday life....who gives a fuck what he think about music?seriously?
Spastic Socialite Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I dig guyliner.Seconded To be honest, does it really matter what this critic thinks? I mean they are not always going to get raving reviews, and y'know, getting good comments from the papers and such isn't really what the band are about. As long as the fans like it thats all that really matters(plus it means there is more Billie for us to share )
Red Lights Flash Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I love 21st CB so he can shut up. Though I do agree that a third 'I don't like this world' album might be boring. So I hope the next album is going to look at things from a brighter point of view.
MascaraTears Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I think their recent songs are still very tongue-in-cheek, in a much more mature way. their music has matured, their lyrics kinda have to mature with that. I also don't think AI and 21CB are pessimistic, more realistic and just being aware and commenting on things going on in the world currently. and personally, I don't really care about the guyliner... they make amazing music, we shouldn't care about their makeup.

I don't think GD hate the world, they just want to make it better, with kick-ass music!

It ends hopefully! I don't think GD hate the world, they just want to make it better, with kick-ass music!i second this. It does end somewhat hopeful.
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 This guy is just saying the same thing all music snobs say about everything "oh, I like the old stuff better" it's the same thing we hear daily. Honestly, he's oblivious if he can't see the fun and optimism in 21stCB. And the snarky comment about fans digging guyliner? really? oh wow this guy is SOOOOO creative.
peepee Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Green Day was way better around 1994. Most of you were babies then and don't know shit so I dont see why you even think you have a right to comment on that. In 1994 it was raw, it was straight forward punk, no fucking political bullshit. It was easier to relate. If I wanted to listen to a teacher I could pick up a bad religion album. Green Day was better before. They rock like hell now too, but it is nothing to what it was back then. They were cooler live then too. 1994-1996 was special.

Your ears were no better than ours our today, so because of that, we can say whatever the fuck we want you condescending idiot. I really hate people like you. Anyway...In 1994 it was raw, raw and un-produced. That is the only difference. They still write to get a message to people, whether it's punk or not. Why does it matter to you what it is labeled as? Can you not like something unless it has been shoved into a certain genre? Why can you not like something because it isn't called Punk? It's completely pathetic and shows you as the stuck up little twat that you really are. Trust me, no one thinks your better because you don't listen to 'mainstream'. They aren't trying teaching you anything, they are just expressing their views and opinions, just like they were in 1994. Unfortunately, they aren't kids anymore so this means its hardly appropriate for them to be singing about masturbation at the age of 35. They've grown up, which you apparently haven't done so yet. You really don't interact on a forum or try to start a conversation by saying we don't have the right to comment on our favourite band. Seriously. And I would like to know what your definition of cooler is in relation to their live performances.
