Some guys can't pull it off, but Billie and Tre look great in it.

Although, Billie used to put too much on sometimes.

Agreed! Just like to point out that contray to how I sounded in the last few posts I'm actually not a teenager! Also I absolutely adore GD's music, and that is the biggest reason why I love the band! To me it's a bonus that are attractive aswell! :whistling:

Art critics are one of the most dispensable groups of people ever. Seriously, no one needs them. A lot of them are not creative persons themselves, which in my opinion totally disqualifies them for their job, still they give opinions, although the artists didn't ask them to do so and other people even pay them for it. It's pathetic.

Guyliner. Seriously.

This.

And I'd know a lot about critics from personal experience of being an artist, and I agree. Most of them can't even make music let alone have tried to, and they bitch about imperfection and shit. They should shut up AND TRY TO DO IT THEMSELVES before criticizing others, whether it's constructive or harsh. PERIOD.

Sorry I made such a stinging point, but there are too many critics who I think shouldn't be critics.

For me the number one best thing about them wearing eyeliner is when it annoys people for any reason. Tickles my funnybone

I can kinda see his point a bit, some of the lyrics do seem a bit over earnest (Peter Paphides mentioned this in the Times review) but they can't act like idiots for the rest of their lives. They come across as kinda nasty and arrogant (in my opinion anyway) in a few old interviews and I really don't want them to go back to that.

very good point. nothing stays the same forever, so it makes sense they would mature and the style would change slightly. i personally liked their middle albums best. there was more maturity there, but not so much that it seems forced. but i will listen to green day no matter what direction they take.

It's one critic, I wouldn't get too worked up. Clearly he doesn't understand or appreciate the meaning of the word "evolution" and its significance to just about everything in life, including a band's music.

So what if we like the Guyliner? That doesn't mean that's the only reason we like Green Day. Of course because of their music and stuff, not just cuz how they look. Some people might think all the guys are butt-ugly and still like them.

I hate when people make assumptions about bands being popular because how they look.

I like Green Days writing now. It's more mature. I mean there older now and have wives and kids. There not going to sing about getting high and masterbating all day anymore (even though there earlier stuff is great) I'm glad they don't act like kids anymore.

Yeah, I mean, they're always saying how they want to be role models for their kids........how can they do that by singing what they used to? Sometimes the best thing to be is mature.

I don't even think they were particularly immature in the old days. Of course they liked to have a lot of fun but it's strikes me that they've always taken their music seriously and poured their heart and soul into it. There's a lot more going on in those old lyrics than critics give them credit for.

i think he fails to see the "humor" in this album.

such as the irony of Christian being against the church, Gloria never being as pure and "glorious" as he thinks

i just noticed that

I have to agree with this reviewer. The album is different than anything Green Day has ever put out, and it feels like they're trying to hard to become something else. I don't understand why humor has to come into play because it's not like Green Day were a bunch of clowns writing fart songs, although Kerplunk! and Dookie had to do with shit. Now that they're all grown up they're going to write more serious songs. But I agree in the sense that this album has a certain aspect where it feels really... I dunno, like a downer. This album is the person that comes into the coversation and brings up dead babies where as American Idiot was like YEAAAAH LET'S GET THE PARTY STARTED.

Reviewer is a cock and very immature. Who doesn't like serious music? Imagine if the beatles sang about fucking a dog?

Oh God, eyeliner love. D:

I hate these writers who think Green Day used to write albums worth of songs about actually wanking off and shit...

They just have no clue...They really really dont.

Almost all of Green Day's songs from 1000hours to 21stCB are serious, so he's just a bad journo.

Fail.

I agree. And writers will criticize anything no matter what. You hardly ever see a review that's positive anymore. God, to think I still want to go into the whole writing career field someday. Blah.

Yeah, why do critics always assume Longview and Green Day sum up all of Green Day's songs? :ermm:

Meh. All bands get trashed at some point or another. Not everyone likes every band out there.

Some people are just more douchey about it.

Someone should make a doucheyness scale to rate every review.

I love how Green Day are at the moment :)

I take it the album is a little too serious for you. Thanks for your opinion but we really don't care.

You can go start an anti Green Day fan-site and bash away, bash away, bash away all.

The band needs to start turning to Jon Stewart for inspiration, not CNN.com.
