Of course you did! I also knocked down an entire display of candy around valentine's day

That contributes to the thread's topic...BUT, there's a catch. You have to be stoned out of your mind to understand.

It's sad how dickweeds (for example: everyone in my school) talk about their shit like Kanye West and stuff ALL THE TIME, but I mention Green Day once and they bug me about "always talking about shitty Green Day emo music. Go listen to the 'cool rap music,' you poser."

Something similar happened to me once. Me and a friend were humming Slow Ride by Foghat, and this girl turns around, and is all "Aw hell no! That's bad music! In fact, I heard rock music is bad for you! You should listen to good music, like hip hop, for example, T-Pain, Soulja Boy..."

I simply gave her the finger from under the table.

It really is frustrating when people dish out crap about your favourite band, which I imagine to most of us here is Green Day. I have a friend who is musically inept, he does'nt have a favourote genre or band or even song. He hardly listens to anything, at all. So when he smiles whenever you mention Green Day, or doles out some damage, you just wanna garb him and shout:

"GREEN DAY ARE THE BEST BAND EVER! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW?!"

I'm not saying the above is true, but I imagine it's what most people think of their favourite band, whatever it may be. I think people who dont know Green Day only associate them with American Idiot, and think thats all they've done. I myself throught Green day were NEW back in 2004 when American Idiot came out. Through listening to some of their other songs I learned of their older stuff, like Dookie. You have to 'get' Green day to appreciate them I think. Theres my two cents ;)

Go listen to the 'cool rap music,' you poser." I can guarantee that everyone in my class is just another poser who has just jumped on "The Fucking Poser Bandwagon." They sure as hell don't like rap. But they follow some unknown asshole who says that "cool people listen to ghetto rap music." Why the fuck can't they be the minority and do whatever they like? It seems that everyone in this world is a follower. I'm mocked CONSTANTLY in my school for being "different."

12 year olds listening to Kanye West and saying they comprehend what he writes? Funny stuff.

Also that asshole is wrong, only cool people who actually listen to rap, listen to intelligent rap.

That is unbelieveable. Of *course* they would say that. "Listen to hip hop music! It's all about shooting people and drugs and money and going on a massive ego trip.....yeah, that's waaaaay better for your mind than rock and roll!" God, people suck. I've started to lose my faith in humanity.

It's kinda random

Why is this still open anyway? Is it about the 'Have a Green Day' thing? I say that all the time xD

And yes, of course I know what it means :)

I've lost faith too.

One time, my previous biology teacher wanted us to list 5 things we liked and disliked on a piece of paper, just so she could get to know us better. I wrote down Green Day as my top 'like'. And when we got the papers back, next to Green Day, my teacher put a comment saying something along the lines of, "I saw Green Day during the Nimrod tour. It was amazing!"

haha. That's pretty sweet. My 8th grade math teacher went to the same Green Day concert I went to.

and I just feel like saying "Well, i didn't really ask for your opinion, nor do I care what you think about them, but thanks".

You obviously would care, but yeah you shouldn't care really.

I'm not as defensive... I love that everyone likes/knows at least one song. So, there's a bit of conversation to be had if someone mentions my posters etc.

I decided that I don't like talking to other people about Green Day, people who aren't really into them. Like, someone will come into to my room see the posters, and usually ask "So i guess you like Green Day huh?", and I almost always say "Yeah, what kind of stuff do you listen to?", just because I don't feel like carrying on a conversation about the band. They usually either say "I like some of their stuff" or "I'm not a huge fan", and I just feel like saying "Well, i didn't really ask for your opinion, nor do I care what you think about them, but thanks".

I agree. I don't really like to talk about to 'outside' people. There are only a select few I will talk to them about Green Day. Otherwise, they don't matter.

Sometimes, for me, it's even hardcore Green Day fans that annoy the shit out of me. Like, some fans will be like, "If you discovered Green Day in 2004, you're not a real fan." That's bullshit. It's just total bullshit, like, if you only discovered them when they got on the radar again, you're not a real fan? People always bitch about the AI bandwagoners, but seriously, if they like it and are fans, then they should count for just as much as someone who's been a fan for longer. IMHO. I'm done now.

dude, there are such things are intelligent rappers.

there is a thing known as unintelligent punk.

Lupe Fiasco - The Coolest

That's only part of the track though.

Low Key - Long Live Palestine

owned.

I decided long ago to not talk about Green Day, or any band in the world unless brought up; this way I could not start fights. I don't think anyone knew I ever liked Green Day. I mean, obviously my parents because they're "fans," too. Still, everyone else had no idea nor did they need to know my musical standards.

I dont listen to rap to know if there are intelligent rap songs, but one thing's for sure: I've *never* heard an intelligent country song. I really haven't. I've never heard an unintelligent punk song, though, either, so what do I know?

Ha that's not just you, they're like the most annoying people on Earth.

Haha, yeah. The people who work in Hot Topic are the worst about it. They really are. Whenever a Green Day song starts playing in there, they'll start going on about posers and fakers and whining about how they sold out and whatever. I always leave when they do that.

And usually, the first thing anyone says to me when I mention Green Day is, "They sold out." I'm like, shut the fuck up, you know??

Where there's intelligence, there's also stupidity. It's yin and yang. I find Country Roads pretty intelligent. Not sure about punk though but there's probably some songs with just pure screaming and a chorus.

okay, how about blink-182's fuck a dog?

don't bring up the point that they're pop-punk either, because pop-punk is a variety of punk.

Is Country Roads the one that goes "country roads, take me home, to the place I belong..." ?? If it is, touche, cuz you just proved me wrong. And on top of that, I don't think Rascall Flatts is bad, as far as country goes.

And......like Atreyu?? xD

XD Haha, that's a real song? Never heard of it. I guess that's pretty fucking unintelligent, huh?

I try to shy away from unintelligent punk.

Yes it is. If you watch The Office, Dwight and Andy played it for the new secretary. It was epic.
