lol, wish i had teachers like that. no one really gives an eff about music here

A few of mine do, but most don't. Most teachers make fun of me 'cause I listen to music that's like 30 years older than me.

I don't like talking about Green Day to anyone as well. At least not people who don't love them as much as me. It's wierd, I don't really know why. I get uncomfortable; maybe because I don't know how much the other person knows about them, like if I asked what their favourite song from Kerplunk is or whatever.

i dont dare talk about green day to my friends or family. i dont want to say that i'm embarassed to say im a fan, but y'know after being beaten over the head with "they're emo" "they're washed up" "find another band" "why do you like posers?" "you should listen to good music instead" (along with more drastic insults) i just want to avoid the whole situation.

so when people say "who's your favortie band" i go "....the network....sweet children...pinhead gunpowder" lol and it's pretty much a natural reaction now.

so yea, totally get what you mean by being uncomfortable.

No one in my school know who Green Day are (except for a few of my friends), but my next door neighbour suggested that I get "Green Day" on my braces.

thats the same exact thing i go through, i just wanted to mention why i wouldn't be going to one of my friend's play, so i said i might be going out to get the new green day album and listen to it with a couple of other friends, they were like "OMG, you always talk about green day or blink 182 (which i hardly ever do) " it's funny because then they'd go on and talk about kanye or lady gaga or 3Oh!3 non-stop, im the odd one out in my group of friends.

My group of friends regard MCR as their favourite band, and I always feel like the odd one out because I feel the same way about Green Day, only to a bigger extent. We were once all at someone's house watching Kerrang and MCR came on. They all got up from the sofa and started dancing. And then Green Day comes on and I almost feel like I have to pretend not to notice, because it will start the whole "OH JENN there's Green Day bet you can't contain yourself!" and I'm like STFU. :/

also I agree with Andres, I really dont like talking to people about bands I love. or Green Day for that matter.

they say oh i like that song on the radio. and thats as far as they go. they dont really understand the meaning or impact this group has had on my life. so i prefer to just say yes they are my favourite band and move on with the conversation. otherwise its like talking to a brick wall when im firing off the names of my favourite songs, bootlegs, videos interviews etc.

This is a good way of putting it. Same with me. :)

I decided that I don't like talking to other people about Green Day, people who aren't really into them. Like, someone will come into to my room see the posters, and usually ask "So i guess you like Green Day huh?", and I almost always say "Yeah, what kind of stuff do you listen to?", just because I don't feel like carrying on a conversation about the band. They usually either say "I like some of their stuff" or "I'm not a huge fan", and I just feel like saying "Well, i didn't really ask for your opinion, nor do I care what you think about them, but thanks".

This is the route I take now.

My biggest problem is that I have a ton of "hipster" friends. In fact, most of my fav bands are indie and critically acclaimed. Which means...a band like Green Day (who is mainstream and rock/pop) - MUST be horrible.

Bah, so none of my friends can relate to me on Green Day. Even the sites I visit (besides this one) - they all trash the band. I just give up, not even worth talking to them. Why bother? I can just talk to other Green Day fans, and be happy.

lol I love it when teachers get things completely wrong

My english teacher likes Green Day and has a poster in his classroom but ive never talked to him about it.

Im with you guys on talking about green day. if i ever talk to someone about gd, they just say that american idiot sucked and they never even listen to green days better albums. it gets very annoying when they judge them on a few songs they heard on the radio

Haha.

The only people who know I love Green Day is one of my best friends and my parents. That's about it, and I don't feel comfortable talking about them or going on about how much I love them because I know it can be annoying when someone isn't a fan.

Remember when American Idiot came out? Everybody that was a poser claimed, "OMG!!!!ONE!! Greenday izz teh fuckin' best!" After a year, American Idiot lost a lot of poser fans. When 21st Century Breakdown is released, I guarantee that the poser "fans" mentioned above will pretend that they have been a Green Day fan the whole time! Start practicing obscene finger gestures more often and load up on guns, because I'm fucking sick of "bullshit fans."

I talk to my sister about Green Day as she loves them too, or my brother occasionally. No one else I know cares about them. Well, a few like Dookie, but they wouldn't be sufficiently interested to talk about the band. But I can talk about them here anyway

A friend of ours got to spend a car journey with my sister and me today so she was treated to some Green Day talk. Haha.

I left school before American Idiot came out so no one was interested in Green Day (and I wasn't into them yet anyway), but I doubt anyone would've been "bashing" them or whatever if they had been. No one gave a shit about music at my school as far as I remember, when I hear stories here of people being slagged off for liking them it always surprises me.

It's sad how dickweeds (for example: everyone in my school) talk about their shit like Kanye West and stuff ALL THE TIME, but I mention Green Day once and they bug me about "always talking about shitty Green Day emo music. Go listen to the 'cool rap music,' you poser." I can guarantee that everyone in my class is just another poser who has just jumped on "The Fucking Poser Bandwagon." They sure as hell don't like rap. But they follow some unknown asshole who says that "cool people listen to ghetto rap music." Why the fuck can't they be the minority and do whatever they like? It seems that everyone in this world is a follower. I'm mocked CONSTANTLY in my school for being "different."

:o I love Kanye West

No offense. I was just speaking my mind on how they think it's right to constantly talk about their music, but diss my taste.

I had a really cool history/religion teacher who loved Green Day. When ever something about them would come up in one of the classes random talks he would always call on me and ask my opinion since he knew I was the only one who knew they existed before AI.

But now I pretty much avoid conversation about them. Most of my friends don't even know I like them. They'll have a nice surprise Friday.

Some of my teachers hate me for my taste in music -.-

Ha no worries. That's really pathetic of them to do that. Don't waste your time on them, they don't know what they're missing when they turn their noses up at such a great band . It's their loss :)

It sounds terrible, but I agree with you. I mean, honestly, I'm pretty young, and I admit American Idiot was my first Green Day CD (besides the song Good Riddance, which has been my favorite song since a decade before I knew it was Green Day) b/c it came out when I was 12.....But I never claimed to have always loved them. I was *grateful* to the posers, b/c I discovered Green Day thanks to their popularity explosion. I hate bullshit fans, though, who'll say "old Green Day's better" and then have nothing to say when asked for one example. Or people who say "Green Day sold out" or "they were cool before they got popular". That's just as much BS as the posers, it really is.

All in all, I agree. Get your middle fingers nice and ready.

They are already aware that it's their loss. They just want to look "cool" in front of other people by dissing a band.

I hate people.

People suck.

FUCK people.

Today, in science class, an important test grade was handed back to me. As usual, I got...D. My teacher said, "Of course, Alex. You're too busy listening to Green Day." She was so right. So, later that day, the bell rang, and I was walking toward my bus, the same teacher was standing in the hallway. She must've seen me unwinding my green iPod, because she called out to me, "Have a green day, Alex!" I don't think she knows what "having a green day" means. *coughsmokingweedcough*

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Mine too  but I have a teacher who loves rock...and that's nice  but I don't know if he love Green Day...uhm...I'll ask this to him :D

My teacher is 6'' , always dresses in a suit, neatly combs his hair....he listens to Offspring.

My art teachers like that and basically all my friends.

But as Andres said before, I don't really like to talk with others about Green Day. They go in my room, look at my posters and ask pert: 'Oh you listen to Green Day? Are they still around?' I just answer yes most of the time and move on with the conversation we had before.

Back to my art teacher. Everytime I wear a band shirt she has to talk with me about the band, even if she don't know a shit about them. That's really annoying...
