Which one is better? 21st Century Breakdown or American Idiot? You decide!

It took me some time to realise it, but i actually do prefer 21stCB. Slightly. I didn't really want to admit it at firstr, i dunno why, that was rather stupid. My former "AI is still gunna be better no matter how good 21stCB is" self would have burnt me for confessing this.

Hello, i'm new here, this is my first post.

I voted for 21 CB, I really love AI, but that album never made me want to join any forum, or stablish any deep conversation about it. But with 21 CB it is diferent, I'm joining this forum to talk about it and hear diferents points of view, i find this album quite amazing, the story is really deep and very coherent (just like the AI story but a litle bit better ).

21st Century Breakdown is an amazing record. There are some things I hate about it (like the way the vocals sound, they sound fake... and how sooo many songs sound similar or the same as other songs) but it's overall a great record.

At the minute my favourite is 21st century breakdown, and it is so amazing, but I think I actually prefer American Idiot, its just because 21CB is all fab and new

It's hard to choose. American Idiot is more of a rock album rather than 21st Century Breakdown. even though 21st CBD reminds me of Warning a little bit, and I don't think it's as "hard" as it could have been. The guys do switch it up alot, which is a plus. Which is partly why I can't decide. The lyrics are good..and their look is more "mature". Overall 21st CBD is ok. It's not the greatest. Even though I do hate saying that.

when i first heard american idiot, i was like, 'wow, this is a really well thought out record.' but when i heard 21cb, i knew that even more effort went into this one than the last.

Thank you! I totally agree and have felt this way since the first listen of 21CB. I still think AI is way better, not to say I don't like this new album, infact I can't yet say if I prefer it over Warning, however AI is superior imo.

Glad to see 21st Century Breakdown is still in the lead. It's just, overall, a better, more original, up-to-date Green Day CD. It's just undeniable that it's better, and a huge advancement on AI.

I appear to be the minority when I say I like American Idiot a lot more. Don't get me wrong, 21CB is an amazing record. But it feels too...layered, too glossy. I like it a lot, but I prefer stripped down Green Day sound. If American Idiot had come out after 21CB, I'd have said it was the best of both worlds: the ambition and scope of 21CB with the raw sound of Green Day's earlier albums.

21CB isn't overproduced, because I think the level of production works perfectly for the album. I just prefer the sound and songs of American Idiot.
