While I haven't listened to the whole album, I have listened to most of it (I broke my vow to remain a 21CB virgin till the 15th, forgive me) and I have to say that it's amazing! It's like a combination of all the styles of music that I love. It has a little bit of the Beatles, I hear a little bit of the Who, FBHT (even though it is Green Day I tend to think of it as a seperate entity, all sprinkled, heavily, with a lot of old Green Day Nimrod/Warning flavor. I'm pumped for lying down in my bed with the album in my hands and looking at the artwork. In that moment I'll know that I'm experiencing something great.

Stop comparing, beacuse 21 guns completely slays every song on AI

oooh, it's good, but I don't think I'd go quite that far. I don't think any song could slay AI, it was just too damn good.

Loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Listened to it all day!!!!!

21 guns has to be my favourite!!!!!!!!!

My only criticism... Don't kill me... is that it doesnt have a classic Green Day epic ending - ie Whatshername!

Thats all! Apart from that its bloody perfect

AI is not that good... Basketcase is by far a bigger hoit for example.

American Eulogy burns down AI (song) and then wipes the ass with the little remaining pieces xD

Eulogy isnt that good.

Whats up with all the repetition in the album, same solos being played twise (even in the Bsides) in the same spot (always played again in the last verse) and Singing Mass Hysteria over and over again is boring. Same with the Song of the Century reprise and those two chords in See the Light.

I really get what Billie meant with the "messing with arrangements in Power Pop" thing he said back in november. There really aren't that many songs that follow the: Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge/Solo, Chorus pattern....

Unless he was talking about arrangements as, strings, piano, and stuff like that.

I feel sick. Green Day and Power Pop mentioned in the same post.

Lets never speak them words together again (even if its CLOSE to the truth)

lol wtf?

You do know that Green Day has always been a pop band right? Even when they were making songs on Dookie. Instead of being "pop punk", now they are more of a "rock/pop" group. Rather, they are taking on the "Classic Rock" genre.

You act like it's some new revelation that they are a pop group. lol

I would bet money that (I Just) Died in Your Arms Tonight by Cutting Crew was the influence for See the Light.

They sound too eerily similar.

Oh wow, you just had to say that. I totally was hearing the same thing, but just kept my mouth shut. IIIIIIII just want to see the light - IIIIIII just want to die in your arms tonight!".

As much as I hate Pop Punk as well (the name I mean) I accept they are Pop Punk. Power Pop is just fucking shit, and Green Day dont make it...some of the new stuff is border line though.

I just think Green Day is modern day punk, music changes and evolves, this is what punk is now. Flame shield please :D:lol:

Btw, Blizk..how ever the fuck you spell it, Bop by the Ramones is pretty poppy sounding, but thats what people call "True Punk"

Sounds to me like you are in denial. There is nothing punk (musically) about "Last Night on Earth" or "21 Guns". Face it, the band tried tackling a new genre - which is "Classic Rock/Pop". Call it Power Pop, call it whatever.

I'm not saying the band is no longer Punk, but the last two albums (for the most part) - are completely different Genres then say Dookie or Insomniac.

Power Pop will always be stuff like Undertones, Cheap Trick and Weezer, say what you want but that's good music

That's a good song (and it's about cumming, jeez), Billie's been known for liking cheesy music. i.e. Pat Benatar and stuff like that

I really see no problem in the band making Classic Rock/Pop music. As long as they keep progressing their sound, I am all for it. IMO they have become a much more skillful group, that has them pushing their technical abilities to the limits.

Even if some of it comes off as Cheesy. :P

I've only got 5 days to wait

C'mon people, it's not that difficult.

Exactly. It's still good music and that's all that matters. and Cutting Crew is cheesy yeah, it's a cheesy influence for a song, y'know, now that I think about it, See the light, yeah
